Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the
day of Jesus Christ;
Sometimes it is tough being in the middle of something. I have found it tough to be in the middle of: a project, a paper,
a life event, or a workout. You may be hesitant when you first start a process, wondering if it will be worth the time and effort.
However, once you get going, you are committed; hopefully to see it, the process, paper, project, workout, whatever, through to
completion. But, when this thing you are working through isn’t over quickly, well, you begin to have doubts. You may begin to
question if you should have started this process in the first place. Some people get that way in the middle of a college degree
program; others get that way during marriage. And when life gets hard, and it seems like God isn’t as “hands on” as you would like
for Him to be, you might be tempted to wonder if being a disciple of Christ is worth it.
Paul’s message for us in this verse is important. If God starts the process of sanctification in your life, He will see it
through until the end. And that is a big deal. Because let’s face it, we all have those moments when we stumble in this race of faith.
We hit a life pothole, or twist our ankle. We might even fall down, and scrape our knee. It is good to know that when that happens,
when we might be tempted to throw in the towel, God does not.
I bring this up because we are coming to the end of a year, and the beginning of another. We are also at the end of a decade
and the beginning of the next. Before you get another Mallary Messenger, we will have started 2020. So, we are in the middle of a
transition, chronologically speaking. When I come to one of these middle moments, where it feels like I have one foot in one year,
and the other in the next; I often reflect, and look forward.
This year is special, because it is the year the Lord has given us. It is also special because it is 2020. And as you probably
know, when you go to the eye doctor, perfect vision is 20/20. And while hindsight is always 20/20, foresight may not be quite so
clear. At those times when the future is uncertain, we may wonder, is it all worth it? Is the process where Christ increases in our
lives, and we decrease in our lives, worth it? Paul wants to remind you that it is worth it. Because God is not done with you yet.
Your sanctification process has not finished. You still have time left in your race. There is, however, a finish line. There is a goal,
and what will get you across that goal, is not your training, or your stamina, or your pace. What will get you across that goal is the
Lord. “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”

Do you think your church would benefit from having Dynamic Deacons?
Pastor, I hope you and your deacons will plan on coming to one of two workshops this January. Bryan Alexander
from the GBMB has taught dozens of churches this great information, and we are blessed to have him in the
Mallary Baptist Association to lead two conferences 1/24 & 1/25. We will be at Byne Memorial Baptist Church from 6-8:30 on Friday night 1/24. We will be at Antioch Baptist Church Saturday morning from 9-11:30 am. This is a free event, and you can come to either session (they will be
the same material). Please let us know if you plan to attend so we can have material available for you.
