Anonymous :Would you please tell m e between act and action?

    Clive :Hi,

They are sim ilar in m any ways, and can often be interchanged. However, here's a couple of brief comments.

act Something that is done. Sugges ts that the 'doing' is completed. eg this murder is a criminal act.

action Usually focuses more on the proces s of 'doing' the act'. eg this movie is very exciting, it is full of action.

    Best wishes , Clive

Anonymous :I believe ACT is like Clive sa id, a completed deed. I think action i s us ually more like part of a deed. For example, a kind ACTm ay require se veral ACTIONS. D escribing the thing in it's entirety is us ually ACT and describing how one did it is usuall y

    ACTIONS.

I walked the lady across the street, holding her arm and carrying her bag. Joe sai d, "your actions there were very kind. Indeedit was a kind act."

    Maybe it's a stupid s entence, but I think that's the m eaning.

omgilyx :act is a verb or an abstract noun, depending on its context.

action is an abs tract noun.
