We are Cyan. Cyan the mosthuman colour. A vision sovibrant it pierces through theblack of night and thedarkness of your heavy soul. Asight so splendid it canseduce both the caressingeyes of a saint to gaze upon itno differently from the hatefuleyes of a sinner. For whatthey see, is what we are andwe are cyan.

They say that cyan pigmentabsorbs red light, they saythat blood pumps through ourveins. Veins so faded inmasses of flesh andfascination we can only reallyimagine they exist. It is onlywhen all is bared and solitudehas stripped us of security. When our principles havepicked us apart and ourshame has scrubbed awayour skin can we really see.See those sprawling cyanlifelines that enclose everybreath of air and trickle of red.Every painful realisation andepic story. Every nighttogether and morning apart.

Every word written, everyconfession whispered, everylie hidden, every apologyignored, every sacrificeregretted. Every scar, everysigh, every shudder, everysmile, every strength trappedflowing red in the delicatecyan lining of your veins.Under our clothes, below ourskin, beneath our pride, cyanpigment absorbs red light andwe are cyan, through andthrough.

A \ Sky \ of \ Cyan \ Veins \ and \ Flames

They say that when a flame isput to the most natural of gas,a deep burning cyan flickersfor the world to see. A flameso powerful, in colour andnature, you can feel thewarmth of raw passionwhipping the air like a lustfilled heartbeat thumpsagainst tired ribs. A passion, cyan by sight that is sparkedby the first foolish gazeacross the room. It is lit by thefirst frenzied graze of stickyskin.

Passionate flames sear cyanthrough conventions, slashingsensibility, ripping rightthrough reason as the mostnatural of feelings burnsbright for all to see. Cyanflames that playfully tickle thethick air, like pleasing fingersthat playfully stroke yourthick scars. For theseseducing flames can turn redin an instance and that onceso elegant fire can blisteryour skin with jealousy andspite and tear the very fleshfrom your bones. And thenwhat is left is nothing but acooling ache.

Plank by plank, your scarsfence you in with wood, nailing your heart firmly shutas regret hammers down. Andyou lay cold, peering up asthe busy people tread overthe ground above you. But donot despair, for those teasingcyan flames will return oneday and overwhelm you onceagain. And again you willgrope and grasp with all the

passion of your selfish souland this time, the mostnatural of feelings will teardown your coffin like blazinglava ploughing through anundeserving forest and abond will be fused instead. Anendless inferno of engulfingcyan love.

And so we are Cyan, the mosthuman colour. Just as bloodflows, and time ticks. Ashearts break and fires burn.We are a pulsating mass offlames and veins united asone under an infinite cyan sky.A sky that shelters all, thatgraces every dying cornerand brushes ever high riselife. A sky, that can be seen bythe vicious man as he takeshis last breath and the rainpitter-patters on his wreckedbody.

That can be seen at the sametime by the purest of youthgazing from the confinementsof the life that lies ahead. Asky that does not judge ordiscriminate. A sky that canbe reached for by hungry andmurderous hands alike. A skythat is bordered by goldengates on one side and theexpansive horizon on theother. And we live as bloodpumps though our veins, andflames burn in our heart, under a cyan sky. Our cyansky. A cyan that touches bothyou and I.

cyancyan is the sky. an overarchingpower under which everyoneand everything is equal. thiscyan giant stretches out infront of us, engulfing for miles.it squashes hopes and perils, dreams and worries alike. thecyan sky does not favour orshame but simply dwarfs us,reminding us that we arenothing but a wisp in this life. afleeting feeling. a name of aregister.

under the giant racial disputes, political disagreements andpersonal issues seemminuscule; it stunts, overwhelms and dominates.we will never be bigger thancyan, never control it, justsimply lie helpless at itsgigantic power.

but are we truly equal underthe cyan sky? is the rape victimequal to her predator? are thescars on my back equal to thelaughter lines on a woman’sface? is poverty equal toincredulous wealth? did lutherking jnr die as equally as idiamin?

and then cyan is methanewhen it burns; the hottest partof the flame.

it is the penultimate planet wayout in the west of our solarsystem, uranus, cold and alone.

these two opposites; blisteringheat and deafening cold foundin the cyan blue giant showthat perhaps everything is notas it first seems in this blackand white society we live in.instead we should see pastthese two tones and see thatcyan is everywhere. stretchingfrom polar to polar envelopingevery extreme in its way.

you see miles of peaceful, undisturbed sky and i see acold, uninviting and hostileenvironment, i see loneliness.cyan is the deep pool enticingdivers and the unknown gulffor others. it’s ice coldloneliness and burning hotflames. the breath of fresh airyou wait for all year round for,and a suffocated last gasp.

but cyan is there nonetheless.cyan is the two sides to everystory. every ounce of earth iscyan; both an abyss and aparadise.

we live in cyan.
