    • DIAS is the next step of the EU’s vision for Copernicus:

    – A Cloud-based one-stop-shop for all Copernicus data, including the Sentinels satellite data and the Core Services.

    – Provide fast access to increasing volumes of data (Sentinels & Services)– Bring the users to the data, stop downloading big data sets– Improve user uptake, support emergence of new applications and

    businesses

    I n t r o d u c t i o n

  • AtmosphereMonitoring • Concept is similar to the C3S Climate Data Store (CDS):

    – A single entry to all Copernicus data (not just one service or one satellite set)

    – Mixed of decentralised data (or subsets of) and cloud data (unlike CDS). – A cloud computing layer to process the data in the cloud (avoid

downloads)– A basic toolbox to process that data – Plus virtual environments where users can develop their own specific

applications, upload/process their own data, and provide their own services (unlike CDS)

    • Approved by the EU Copernicus Committee / IGS Task Force last December

    • 3 DIAS solution to be implemented in parallel:– 3 platforms to provide equal access to the basic data and services,

although each platform will provide its own distinctive implementation concept and added-value services

    – Implemented by ESA (two platforms, already under ITT), and EUMETSAT/ECMWF/Mercator (one platform)
