TALKING ABOUT THE FUTURE
Ladies and Gentlemen – It is time for our church to put into words what our vision is for The Church of
Hope and the community we serve. This is known as a “Vision Statement” which is used to guide us and to explain to others what we are trying to accomplish.
The Board of Directors is requesting that each of you prayerfully consider being a part of the team to develop this extremely important document. The team will be made up of six to eight members, whose mission will be to present a Draft Vision Statement to the Board of Directors by the end of this year. Giving the team a deadline will allow the draft to be reviewed by the Board and then presented to the congregation at the Annual Meeting in February. If you wish to be a part of this team, please contact Pastor George or Hugh Mears.
If you are unable to be a part of this team, but have suggestions or input, please share them with Hugh via email, [email protected] or by phone at (661) 406 2469. Sincerely, Hugh Mears – Chair - The Church of Hope - Board of Directors

Remember, we are challenged
to be the face of Christ in this world for
every little one. So, when children are
with us – make them welcome.
Don’t expect them to be like you
were. Expect them to be who they are
when you love them unconditionally.

VERSE OF THE MONTH
“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Proverbs 16:18
An Excerpt: ““Baptize these others in the name of the “Father.” That word must not be thought of as the name of some external deity, but rather as the name of the Source of Life that inhabits the universe, calling us all to live
fully. Baptize, too, in the name of the “Son.” That word must not be seeen as the name of the founder of an exclusive religious system, but the name of the Source of Love, which embraces us all and then frees us to
love wastefully, to love beyond every barrier. Baptize them in the name of the “Holy Spirit.” Those two words are not another name for God, but are rather the name of the Ground of Being, in whom we all are related and in which we find not only the courage to be all that we can be, but also, perhaps even more
important, the courage to allow others to be all that they can be in the infinite variey of our humanity. The human community contains people of all races, genders, sexual orientation, ages, politcal persuasion and
economic statuses. The call of God to us to be all that we can be is also the call to rejoice in very being of all others. That is what forms the univeral community of which the church is but a symgol; indeed, to build
the univeral community is the ultimate goal of the Christian church, and in the achievement of that goal the church itself will finally be disolved.”

near there and is now a great supporter of bringing in Box Tops.)
There are many products, not just General Mills that are on our list and it
changes regularly so keep your eyes open and bring them to church.
We will do the rest.

A WORD ABOUT THE SURVEY
There has been some discussion about the survey we took a while back. A large group met with
Pastor Marj from the synod as she interpreted the results as best she could. The thoughts on that
meeting were mixed. Further discussion took place, and more is to come. I’d like to tell you what I got
from the survey.
I was deeply touched by the results. As a congregation you have a good understanding of God’s love
and God’s call to service. You have taken to heart the work that we have done to give you outreach
tools. You have a good sense of Radical Hospitality, Genuine Humility, Fearless Conversation and
Divine Anticipation. This showed in your answers.
You bared you souls in the survey and the result was beautiful to see. Your love of your God and your
church and each other shown through. One of the people said that you gave me a good job review.
I’ll take that and thank God for you all.
Blessings,
Pastor George
