A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
I am very excited to see Fr. Johnson Lopez join
us this weekend. We are very blessed to have
him. He is very excited to be with us. His first
assignment was at St. Mary, Woodstock, so he
is somewhat familiar with our area. Please
welcome him as you get to meet him.
This weekend we start our Family Faith
Formation classes again. We look forward to a
great year, so I hope you have your children
and family registered. We also get going with
Youth Ministry and Confirmation this week.
Hopefully you will hear this week if you have
not already from your time and talent sign ups.
The holiday set us back a day or so. Please be
patient with us.
Have a Blessed Week! Father Paul
Dear Parish Family,
I am Father Johnson Lopez. It is with great joy
that I received the news of my
new assignment as parochial
vicar to the Church of Holy
Apostles. I am looking forward
to celebrating life and faith
with all the families of Holy
Apostles. As your priest, I come
here with an open mind to
work and serve you in whatev-
er capacity I may be able to. My prayer and
hope is that during this time we may grow in
love of God and understanding of our Catholic
Faith. God bless you all. Father Lopez
HALEY MESZAROS, GRAPHIC ARTIST Since August 13, our parish has begun
pursuing the goal of convey-
ing one clear message each
week from that Sunday’s
Gospel in many different
formats. College student/
parish member Haley
Meszaros has created the
visual graphics to go along
with the message that you’ve seen on our
screens, bulletin cover and on social media
for several weeks. Thank you, Haley, for
sharing your talent and creativity!
If you have experience with Adobe Creative
Suite and would like to share your ideas/
skills, contact Jen Marsh at [email protected].

authentic leaders who will be capable of transforming
homes and society. Please stop by the registration table

Be Part of Holy Apostles Community Board Holy Apostles Community Board was created on Face-
book to work as a “digital bulletin board” that helps us to
connect with each other. Make a community announcement,
ask for or provide assistance with a chore, request or
offer rides, babysitting or other types of care, buy, sell, or
give away items, request a prayer—these are just a few
ways we can connect. There are currently 276 members—
but we can use more! To join the Community Board, just go
to facebook.com/groups/holyapostlescommunityboard,
read and follow the rules we’ve established and then re-
quest to become a member. Once you’re approved as a
member, you can begin using this great tool. If you do not
have a Facebook account or do not have access to the
internet, you can still use the Community Board by calling
in your “post” to Anne West or Jennifer Marsh at 815-385
-5673 and we will post it for you.

Your Gifts Help with Income Gaps Many in our community have jobs that are full-time only
during certain times of the year, such as those hourly
positions in construction, landscaping
and some school district jobs. For
these individuals and their families,
the 'off' times of the year are espe-
cially difficult as they are often with-
out income. One such family with four
children reached out to the St. Vincent de Paul Society
for help to meet their needs during this income gap. Vin-
centians arranged for the children to have back-to-school
haircuts and paid a past-due daycare bill so the parent
had childcare when her job began again the following
week. Bags of food and prayerful support helped this
family through difficult times. "So whatever you wish that
others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the
Law and the Prophets." Matthew 7:12

Can You Spare 4 Hours for P.A.D.S.? Will you be that person who will watch over a woman
in need so she can sleep securely in our church in-
stead of on the streets? Can you spare four hours of
sleep once a month so we are able to keep our Holy
Apostles P.A.D.S. shelter program alive? P.A.D.S.
begins in October and we have five Sundays when
we will provide shelter during that first month. We
mostly need help covering our 11 PM to 3 AM; 3 to
5 AM and 5 to 7 AM shifts on Sunday nights/
Monday mornings, so that our current volunteers
don’t burn out before we even reach November. If
you are able to help, please contact Karen Varga at
815-451-2602 or [email protected].
Offer Your Intentions with Candles Four candles surround the Blessed Sacrament in the
All Saints Perpetual Adoration Chapel, each burning
for 14 days. Request your own personal intentions
for their duration by contacting the Parish Office at
815-385-5673. The suggested donation is $15 per
candle. From September 10 through 23, with these
candles, your prayers have been requested by Maricela
Mora, Leoncio Agaton, Nicolas Agaton Martinez and
Pablo and Yolanda Cruz.

Él considera a
No
