A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
Wow—what a great family event at the Fiesta!
Thank you to those who attended and thank
you to all our Spanish-speaking brothers and
sisters who worked tirelessly to give us this
fiesta. Our Spanish-speaking ministry leaders
were incredible. Deacon Daniel with Tania and
Adrianna met and coordinated with these
amazing leaders to give us a feast of a life-
time! Thank you!
Last weekend Hurricane Harvey hit in an ex-
tremely difficult manner. We are still seeing
what needs to be done, so in preparation, our
bishop is asking that we have a second collec-
tion this weekend to help the homeless and
those who have lost everything. Please help
the best you can and we can keep looking for
ways to help.
Lastly I am extremely excited to tell you that
our associate pastor, Fr. Johnson Lopez, is
coming at the end of the week. He will intro-
duce himself at next weekend’s Masses. He
is a wonderful young man who started his
ministry in Woodstock at St. Mary’s. We are
blessed to have him and I am relieved to have
a wonderful priest to join us.
Have a Blessed Week! Father Paul
PRAYER ON LABOR DAY Let us pray...Lord of work and play, we pray to you today.
You worked for six days, creating all that we see and sense around us.
On the seventh day you rested and saw that everything you had
made was good.
Today on our national day of rest from labor, we thank you for the
gift of leisure, and remember all who have gone before us,
working hard, long hours without break and good pay
so that we can appreciate the gifts of family and friends
and enjoy safety and prosperity in the work of our hands. Amen.

Get Tickets—Women of Inspiration Banquet Congratulations to Traci Stevens and Magdalena Herrera
chosen as Holy Apostles’ 2017 Catholic Women of Inspi-
ration! Traci generously gives her time, talent and treasure
to our parish in various functions, as well as serving the
community at large. Magdalena is the smiling face and
lady of great hugs you’ve seen around church. When some-
one wants to know more about the Catholic faith, Magda-
lena is there to instruct them. Her strong faith is the joy
that you always see in her face. She is part of the RICA
team for people entering the Catholic faith. She teaches
the Baptismal classes and used to instruct the parents of
Religious Education students in Spanish. She is part of a
Bible study, leads the rosary every Sunday before Mass and
prays for everyone in the Adoration Chapel. We at Holy
Apostles are proud to know Magdalena and her family.
Come celebrate Traci and Magdalena at the annual recog-
nition dinner at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish Center,
Crystal Lake, on Sunday, September 17, at 4 PM. Tickets

Be Part of Holy Apostles Community Board Holy Apostles Community Board was created on Face-
book to work as a “digital bulletin board” that helps us to
connect with each other. Make a community announcement,
ask for or provide assistance with a chore, request or
offer rides, babysitting or other types of care, buy, sell, or
give away items, request a prayer—these are just a few
ways we can connect. There are currently 276 members—
but we can use more! To join the Community Board, just go
to facebook.com/groups/holyapostlescommunityboard,
read and follow the rules we’ve established and then re-
quest to become a member. Once you’re approved as a
member, you can begin using this great tool. If you do not
have a Facebook account or do not have access to the
internet, you can still use the Community Board by calling
in your “post” to Anne West or Jennifer Marsh at 815-385
-5673 and we will post it for you.

agradable a Dios” (Rom 12,1). “Hostia” obviamente
Él ya go-
za de la vida eterna.
