Think of a me when you received news too far beyond your

understanding or belief. Good news or bad, it doesn’t ma�er.

Was disbelief part of your response? No way. Couldn’t be.

Seriously? If so, you are in good company. This was Mary’s

response. At the Annunciaon she was much perplexed and

she pondered. She offers us a great example of how we can

welcome our own bewilderment. Ponder. Pause. Queson.��

Imagine what might have been swirling around in her heart and in her head.

Fear? Shame? Judgment? I wonder how long it took to go from perplexed to

yes. We know a-er her “yes” she went, in haste, to her kinswoman Elizabeth

for confirmaon.��

Responding in faith to life’s challenges and invitaons calls us to be counter�

cultural. In mes of potenal division and challenge, I pray for the wisdom to

be like Mary � to take me to ponder, pause and pray to an answer.�

“The Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory.” The

Son of God became human. God has chosen to enter the world in this

vulnerable fashion and we are called to shelter him and keep him safe. There is

something truly awe inspiring about this decision on God’s part to make

himself vulnerable in this way. Let that simple truth move you and let it break

open and so-en your heart. Allow the inmacy between Mary and Jesus to

become the inmacy between you and your very vulnerable Savior. Rest a

moment, at the end of a difficult year, in the tender love of your God revealed

in this child.�

Along with Fr. Rich, the staff of our cluster parishes and myself wish you a truly

blessed Christmas, may you connue to experience God’s blessings and know

that we will soon overcome this difficult me with God’s help.�

Gree�ngs to all of you this last week of Advent! As we head into this

blessed week of the Na�vity of our Lord, I just wanted to take an

opportunity and say Thank You! Thank you for all your prayers, support,

and generosity to me as I con�nue in this new assignment! I’m so blessed

to have been assigned to this 5�parish cluster which includes my home

parish of St. Peter the Fisherman. I’m very humbled and grateful! I will con�nue to minister

as a priest the best I can to all of you as we journey together through life and faith. Please

don’t ever hesitate to reach out to me for anything you may need, as I know many have

helped me since I moved here last July.�

A very blessed Christmas and an abundance of blessings this coming New Year to all of you,

your families, and loved ones. May 2021 be a great year as we con�nue to fight Covid�19,

pray for each other, and grow as a cluster of parishes here in the Northwoods! Please

con�nue to pray for those who have lost loved ones or have been impacted nega�vely
