This is the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We continue to hear from the Eucharistic Discourse in the 6th Chapter of St. John’s Gospel. The crowd that followed Jesus across the Sea of Galilee had most likely been at his feeding of the large crowd in last week’s Gospel reading. Jesus makes a clear statement that he is the true bread of heaven. In last week’s Gospel he said that to do the work of God you must believe in the one that he sent, Jesus. Now Jesus is making a call for faith in him as the one God sent, and, as the true bread of life which is his very lesh! He says, “andthebreadthatIwillgiveismy leshforthelifeoftheworld.”This passage from St. John’s Gospel makes it abundantly clear that Jesus is the bread of eternal life. He is present really and truly in the Holy Eucharist. At Holy Mass we receive the true body and blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God! Jesus makes a clear call for belief in Him as one with the Father, consubstantial as we say in the creed, and truly present physically in communion. Jesus is our true Eucharistic Lord. His love for us is so deep that he wants to be present with us, for us, in us, in this most personal way through his real presence in the Eucharist. OJesusweadorethee,Who,inthylovedivine,concealthymightyGod-headinformsofbreadandwine.The Eucharistic Adoration chapel on our Ss. Peter and Paul campus is a place to come and rest close to our Eucharistic Lord Jesus. The adoration chapel is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Jesus is there in the monstrance for you to see him and sense his closeness. People sign up to pray and to adore Jesus in the Monstrance for an hour once a week. Because of these adorers, anyone can come in for a visit with our Lord Jesus for any length of time short or long, any time of the day or night. If you would like to join the ranks of these dedicated adorers of our Lord, please contact the parish of ice at Ss. Peter and Paul at 763-479-0535.
