Mass Intentions
The custom of requesting a priest to offer the Mass for a specific intention, even when one cannot be physically present at the Mass, is a longstanding tradition in the Church. This is because the Church considers the Mass as the greatest possible prayer of intercession insofar as it is the perfect offering of Christ to the Father by making present the paschal mystery of his death and resurrection. You may request a Mass Intention by visiting the Cathedral Center Office. Mass Intentions are posted in the Parish Bulletin, and on our
website: www.thecathedralofstmary.org
2017 Archbishop’s Charity and Development Drive (ABCD) Begins In this new year, please take some time to reflect on the many blessings the Lord has given us in our lives. All we have is a gift from God, so we must be willing to give up some things so that we can share our blessings as God intended. Pope Francis says, “Charity is born of the call of a God who continues to knock on our doors, the door of all people, to invite us to love, to compassion, to service of one another… Jesus keeps knocking on our doors, the doors of our lives. He doesn’t do this by magic, with special effects, with flashing lights and fireworks. Jesus keeps knocking on our door in the faces of our brothers and sisters, in the faces of our neighbors, in the faces of those at our side.” The 201y Archbishop’s Charity and Development Drive, the ABCD, will be held on the weekend of January 21st-22nd. This is our opportunity to unite together as one Catholic family, to answer the Jesus’ call to help our brothers and sisters in need. In these next two weeks, please take the time to prayerfully reflect on the gifts that you have been given by God and respond to the ABCD as generously as you possibly can. Your participation is essential to continue to build the Kingdom of God here in south Florida.
Pap Franswa di : « Charite soti nan apèl Bondye ki kontinye ap frape nan pòt nou, nan pòt tout moun, pou envite n pou nou ren-men, pou nou gen konpasyon, pou nou sèvi youn lòt… Jezi kontinye ap frape nan pòt nou, nan pòt lavi nou. Li pa fè sa ak maji, ak efè espesyal, ak limyè k ap flache, oubyen ak fedatifis. Jezi kontinye ap frape pi rèd toujou nan pòt nou atravè frè ak sè nou yo, atravè vwazen nou yo, atravè sila you ki bò kote nou. Patisipasyon w esansyèl pou kontinye bati Wayòm Bondye a nan Sid Floridla.

MERCIFUL AND LOVING FATHER,
We beseech you, open our hearts so that we
may provide hospitality and refuge to mi-
grants who are lonely, afraid, and far from
their homes. Give us the courage to welcome
every stranger as Christ in our midst, to invite
them into our communities as a demonstra-
tion of Christ’s love for us. We pray that when
we encounter the other, we see in her the face
of your Son, when we meet a stranger, that we
take his hand in welcome. Help us to live in
solidarity with one another, to seek justice for
those who are persecuted and comfort for
those who are suffering. We ask this through
our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and
reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
