Greg Warren Senior Minister [email protected]

Nearing the End of Renovation of Old Sanctuary In just a few more weeks, we expect the renovation of the old sanctuary to be complete. That sure went a lot faster than the first phase. So, what exactly will be in the old sanctuary now? Here’s the rundown:

• Expanded office area – Offices for all of our staff as well as a conference room for meetings and storage for records and such.

• Youth areas – The front of our old sanctuary will be an area for our youth to have their worship events and activities. There will also be a “youth room” for smaller group gatherings and meetings.

• Classrooms – We will have seven classrooms in the newly renovated building.

What’s next? Once the renovation is complete and we’re settled in, our focus will then shift to completing the final phase of the overall project, which is the lower level children’s area. We do not want to add additional debt, so we have opted to hold that phase until we have accumulated the funds to pay cash for it. Once we accumulate the funds to complete the lower level, we will begin the final phase. The funds will be accumulated from offerings in excess of our weekly budget needs.

Areas of ministry need… If you’re looking for a place to get involved and serve the Kingdom, I’d like to suggest that you consider a few areas where we really have need at the present time. We have a need for more folks to serve in…

• Audio ministry – Running the sound board. You don’t have to be an audio expert. You can learn through an “apprenticeship” where you observe, work with someone guiding you, and then eventually run it on your own when you feel comfortable.

• Video broadcast team – Our greatest need right now is for folks who operate the cameras during our worship services. We would like to have a team of people who rotate so folks can serve and then have several off-weeks to simply come and worship with no responsibilities. Again, you can learn through an apprentice-style experience and won’t be expected to do it alone until you feel comfortable that you know what you’re doing.

If you’re interested in serving in these areas, please contact me (email listed at top of this page) or make a note on your yellow attendance card.

From my heart to yours, Greg

Wow! What an incredible month April was, and May looks to be very inspiring as well! It was so encouraging to be reminded of God’s amazing love for us and the forgiveness, purpose, and promise we have in Jesus. Thank you to the many of you for your dedicated service in sharing this hope with others. Here are some of the opportunities for this month: Next Steps Class Next Steps Class is scheduled to meet Sunday, May 26, 5 PM. If you would like to learn more about what it means to be a member at The Carpenter Christian Church or learn more about the church in general and learn more about how God has designed you to serve Him, this class is for you. Led by Greg, John, and Lee Wright. You may sign up by writing “Next Steps” on your yellow connection card on Sunday. Refuge Life Group Refuge Life Group meets on Wednesday evenings, 6:30 PM, at the Kentucky Prime Realty Building on the Corner of College and Office Streets in Harrodsburg. Wednesday Evening Schedule: May 1 - Michaela Selby - Testimony Joset Longmore - Special Music May 8 - Isaiah House Women - Testimonies Honoring moms and women Nelson Reynolds - Special Music Berea Christian Church assisting with serving May 15 - Trent Baker - preaching Magnolia Christian Church assisting with serving May 22 - Tim Darland - preaching Mt. Pleasant Church assisting with serving May 29 - Kick-off for Summer with Bible Lesson series: “On the Water with Jesus”

Summer is on its way and the activities for the Women’s Ministry are coming to an end as we take a break from our studies and meetings for the summer! First of all, we would like to

thank all the ladies that participated in the “Quest” Bible Study for the entire 8 weeks! The last meeting was Tuesday, April 30th, and we were blessed by this study and all those who participated and contributed to the discussions. We had to move around some because of the construction going on in the church, but you stuck with us through it all, and we appreciate each of you. The Ladies Spring Brunch has been postponed by the construction going on in the gym also. If the construction is completed in time, we will try to reschedule for June 8th or 15th. Stay tuned for more updates regarding the Brunch. We already have lots of fun planned for this Fall!! Our first program will be held on Sunday, September 8th at 6:30 when the Bruner’s Chapel 3:16 Productions will be performing for us. All age groups are welcome to attend this event!! If you would like to serve the children of TCCC, we encourage you to volunteer to help with VBS this year! This event will be held the week of July 8th! This ministry is such a blessing to not only the children of TCCC, but it is a wonderful outreach to the children of Mercer and surrounding counties. Stacey and Michelle can always use helping hands to pull off this amazing event!!! Please be in prayer for our Women’s Ministry team as we plan for future studies and programs, that everything we do would be in accordance with God’s Will. We will continue to pray for the women of TCCC, that we would serve the needs of the ladies in our church and be sensitive to the needs of everyone. If you have a comment, suggestion for a new study, or prayer request of any kind, please feel free to contact one of the members of our team. With much Love, we wish you all God’s Blessings this summer, and until we meet again, “Love is patient and kind … Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Cor. 13:4-7. NEW TCCC MINISTRY We are starting an Orphan Care Ministry here at TCCC that supports families in our community, who foster children. We are in need of several volunteers who would be interested in either signing up to babysit for a Foster Parent’s Night Out, held once a month here at the church or who might be interested in volunteering to make some meals for a meal train when foster families get new placements. If you are interested in helping or volunteering for either of those things, please get in touch with Amy Raney. There are several ways you can help or support Orphans right here in our community.

Stacy Charles, Children’s Ministry Director [email protected]

Wow! Where did April go? The month flew by so quickly and it is hard to believe that it is May and we are in the last month of school for everyone. I am sure your kids are beyond excited about summer. You, maybe not, but your kids YES! With summer, there are lots of opportunities for your kids to stay busy. Please be aware of the following opportunities for our TCCC children ages K to 5th grade: CAMP CALVARY Summer Camp - this camp is open for all children ages Kindergarten to 5th grade. If you are interested in sending your child, please make sure that you get the information from Stacy Charles and get it turned in. The dates are as follows: June 2 - 5 - 2nd and 3rd grade June 6-7 - Kindergarten and 1st grade June 9-14 - 4th and 5th grade If you would like your child to participate, please see Stacy Charles. A $25 deposit is due by May 15th to hold your child's spot. TEAM KID is winding down for the school year and we will have our last TEAM KID on May 15th. This will be our summer celebration. We will cook out, have water games, and just spend some time together before we break for the summer. Please make sure that your child is attending TEAM KID, if they have not. We will be meeting on May 1st, 8th, and 15th, and will break after that for the summer and resume in August after school starts. VBS is right around the corner. Our VBS 2019 dates are July 8-12. Our theme for VBS this year will be ROAR. We are excited to get another year of VBS underway and have lots of work to do to prepare. We will be sharing more information in the weeks to come about VBS, gathering volunteers, sharing information, and beginning our countdown to the start of VBS 2019, June 8th! Thanks for all that attended our Easter performance this year and to all the parents that allowed us to work with their children. As always, the children were an absolute blessing and sang their hearts out. We are blessed to have such wonderful, talented children in our church who sing and worship the Lord the way that they do. We would like to say goodbye to two of our 5th grade sweethearts - Ella Davis and Addison Shepherd. They have been with the TCCC Children's Choir since they could walk and talk, and we have to let them move on to the youth group. Their sweet voices and sweet hearts will be missed. TCCC Choir will resume in August.

TCCC STUDENTS

Jacob Bryant, Youth Ministry Director [email protected]

CIY is right around the corner and we just finished our Student registration on Wednesday. As of right now, we will have over 75 attendees this year for camp! That number will grow by a little over the next few weeks as we always have a few students filter in at the last second. This is looking like we will take more students to CIY this year than we ever have. God is at work in our Student Ministry! If you are a parent (or guardian) of a Student who is going to CIY with us this year, you should have already been handed the dates of the parent meetings and all the information that you will need to know leading up to CIY. If you have not, please contact me or the church for more information regarding that! This year, the students will be exploring the story of Elijah. It seems like every year, CIY “one up’s” itself. I can only imagine how great this year is going to be and how influential it will be for our students and their relationship with our Lord and Savior! On another note. We are so proud of our graduates around TCCC. Our annual Student/Graduate Sunday will be 19th of May. If you have a graduating senior (High School or College), we would love to recognize them. If you would, please contact the church to get their name on the graduating list to be recognized and to receive a gift for their achievement. This is always a fun Sunday and one that we have seen grow tremendously through the years with graduates. A lot of students have been asking what our plans are for the summer. Here is your answer: MAY: We will continue our Life Groups until the end of the month. JUNE: CIY. There will not be Life Groups or any other scheduled event for the students. JULY: After VBS, our student ministry will start to gain speed for the new year. Also, we will take our annual Kings Island trip. As you can tell, there is not an off season when it comes to Student Ministry. The summer months are just as busy as any other. Thank you for your encouragement towards our student ministry. We are truly blessed with a congregation who supports our next generation. Of that I am thankful for!

MARK CALENDARS - TCCC VBS 2019 - JULY 8TH - 12TH - 5:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M.

Page 5: The Carpenter’s Christian Church Volume 18 Issue #10 …carpenterschristian.church/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/... · 2019. 5. 14. · The Carpenter’s Christian Church Volume 18

How's your prayer life?

Do you want to know how to deepen your prayer life? The Bible tells us in Romans 12:12 to steadfastly maintain the habit of prayer. Can I make a suggestion? Don’t prepare to pray. Just pray. Don’t read about prayer. Just pray. Don’t attend a lecture on prayer or engage in discussion

about prayer. Just pray.

Posture, tone, and place are personal matters. Select the form that works for you but don’t think about it too much. Don’t be so overly concerned with wrapping the gift that you never give it. Better to pray awkwardly than not at all. And if you feel you should only pray when inspired,

that’s okay. Just see to it that you are inspired every day!

You will grow in intimacy with God as you take the time to talk with Him each day. You will learn to become more intentional as you approach the most important conversation of the day – with the Creator of the universe who is there, cares, and listens with an ear to respond,

both for His glory and for your good.

Jeremiah 33:3 says “Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could

never figure out on your own.” (The Message MSG)

Did God really mean it – call upon Me; I will answer you; I

will show you wonderful and marvelous things?

Bible verses such as these teach us that God can change our situations, plans and lives. God intervenes in our

affairs, astonishing us with His power, grace and mercy.

Start today . . Just pray . .

May you be encouraged by these words today . .

Dolls of HOPE TCCC Dolls of HOPE Ministry gather together each month making dolls for children in Harrodsburg and Danville hospitals, Family Protective Services, and the Harrodsburg Police Department. We meet on the 4th

Tuesday of every month January-October at 10 am. God continues to bless this ministry. Our goal is to make over 400 dolls this year. We average 15-25 people each month gathering together sewing, stuffing dolls, and enjoy each other’s company. We enjoy a potluck meal each time and also share prayer concerns and have a devotional time. We have expanded our projects this year to make 200 stuffed bears for boys, underarm pillows for cancer patients, and throws for patients in nursing homes. We also are continuing to ask help with the knitted or loomed toboggins that will help those in need during the cold winter months. You can also help us with this project by making toboggans at home during your spare time. We use donated and left over fabric to make quilts for Haven Care Pregnancy Center, MCES, Galilean Home, and Thompson VA Center. This year our goal is to make 100 quilts. Dolls of HOPE Quilting meet the 1st Monday of each month at 10 am. We are always in need of 100% cotton fabric for the dolls and quilts. We will continue to collect can goods and non-perishable food items for the Christian Life Center throughout the year. You can help participate in this project by placing your donations in the basket provided in the front lobby. If you have any questions contact: Dora Higginbotham at 265-7548 or Martha Lainhart at 734-5893.

If it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving,

then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Romans 12:8

Lambkincare Ministry Isaiah 40:11

Haven Care Pregnancy Resource Center expresses their thankfulness for all you do with your love offerings every month! They have sent TCCC a list of larger items

that are always on their waiting list in case you have an item to share; baby beds (they have mattresses), bassinets, bouncers, full size strollers (or any), baby swings, Bumbo seat, nursing pillows, bottles of any kind. Of course, gently used clothing up to 3T and maternity clothing is also appreciated. And you can imagine the wipes and diapers that pass through the Center! The staff at Haven Care carefully evaluate every need for Our Lord to bless richly. The TCCC “Jesus I am Yours, Women Ministry” have again graciously offered to collect items for Haven Care during their June luncheon. Please watch for more details. You can always drop your items off at church or give me a call and I will pick up. Thank you!!

Thank you to everyone who came out to our first No Walls on Easter Sunday! Our next No Walls will be May 19th at 6:00. We will need volunteers to help set-up at 5:00, serve and clean up. We especially need volunteers to help with the children’s activities. Please join us in fellowshipping with those who attend and enjoy the music, service and fun! No Walls is held at the corner of West Office and James Street. The Missions Team is in need of a few additional members who would be willing to help out with some research. Please contact John Sims if you would be willing to help us out! As you are spring cleaning, if you come across any shoeboxes, please consider putting them aside for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox collections in September! The Missions Team asks that you continue to join us in praying for the Pioneer Missionaries and other missionaries who are spreading the gospel abroad. We pray for their safety and ability to reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Don’t forget the on-going collections! The Isaiah House is in need of self

-care items for both men and women. They are also asking for coffee cups

for the women’s facility. We continue to take donations for Haven Care and

food for the Christian Life Center, as well as medication bottles (without the

labels), plastic lids for benches and pull tabs for Indian Summer Cancer

Camp for children. Donations can be dropped off in the bins in the lobby.

All donations are appreciated!
