Don’t miss one of these opportunities. THE FATHERS AND BROTHERS OF THE ORATORY thank all our Parishioners and Friends for your Christmas Offerings, and for your lovely cards and generous gifts which are greatly appreciated, as are your many gestures of kindness and support. We pray for God’s blessing upon your homes and families this Christmastide, and throughout the New Year. You are especially invited to Christmas Day Benediction at 6pm. CHRISTMAS CRIB OFFERINGS: Bishop Philip asks, this year, that our offerings support the work of The Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, which is an Equestrian Order dating back to the First Crusade and establishment of the Kingdom of Jerusalem in 1099, and reconstituted in 1847 when the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem was restored, to provide regular support of prayer and works for the Christian communities in the Holy Land. Our Crib Offerings will be a life-line for Christians in the Land of our Saviour’s Birth. Please be generous as you make a prayerful visit to the Crib each day during the Christmas Season. On the Feast of the Epiphany (6 th Jan.) the shepherds are replaced by the Magi, who came later. The Crib remains in place until the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple (Candlemas) on 2 nd February. Find out more at: www.khs.org.uk THE LONG EXPECTED COMMUNION RAILS were installed in our Church just in time for Christmas. They are the work of local craftsman, Richard Burchell of Burchmore Joinery at Ferndown, who was very pleased to be asked to do some traditional work. The rails are made of Canadian pine, to a most pleasing design of our architect, Columba Cook, to appear as if part of the original furnishing, match existing woodwork, and harmonise with the window tracery and other aspects of our Church. They have been introduced because a number of people wished to receive communion kneeling, and the two prie-dieux in use up until now, were neither comfortable nor safe. These new kneelers, however, are heavy, secure and comfortable to use. Do try them! A big thank you to the many people who have donated specifically to provide our parish with these beautiful Communion Rails. The choice of whether to receive Holy Communion kneeling or standing (as stated in recent homilies and bulletins) is entirely that of the individual communicant. DAILY ORATORY (normally at 7am and 6pm) is suspended during Christmas Week, when the Church doesn’t open until 9am and closes immediately after the 6pm Angelus.
