The average port folio value of investment clubs subscribing to the

myICLUB.com club accounting portal at year-end 2019 was up about 1.2% from the year before, totaling $223,200. The typicalportfolio held slightly less in stocks (88.4%) compared with the year before (89.9%) and a bit more in cash — 9.7% versus 8.2%. Clubs’ taste for specu-lation isn’t new — in the mid-2000s, for example, Sirius was a popular holding even though it was still losing money — but at year-end 2019 the three biggest movers on the list have “nontra-ditional” Stock Selection Guide fundamentals.
