WelcomeThe Berry Theatre’s spring 2013 programme is packed with some great productions and another free Festival thanks to Hedge End Town Council.

This season will be my last at The Berry Theatre as I step down to take up the new artistic directorship at Derby Theatre. Since we opened in April 2011 I have enjoyed working with the team, partners and our audiences immensely and I feel very proud to have been a part of its first steps. In just 18 months The Berry Theatre has exceeded all expectations and been a huge success both for artists, who have been delighted to perform in its brilliant surroundings, and for the community who have attended high-quality shows and taken part in a range of special participatory sessions. I look forward to seeing The Berry Theatre grow from strength-to-strength and hope you will continue to support this fantastic venue.

Page To Stage A platform for new and emerging writing talent in Hampshire.

The Berry Theatre presents an evening of script - in - hand performances by our creative team and associates.

You will see work in progress, presented by a creative team of people looking to offer an example of how these plays could work on stage for the first time.

The scripts will be the result of weekend writing workshops, to develop short new plays, especially for The Berry Theatre.

Where possible we will try and link plays by theme, but always with an eye to showcase varied styles and different approaches to writing for the stage.

This is an excellent opportunity for audience members and writers to discuss new work and see work in progress by emerging playwrights in Hampshire.

Tickets: £5

Fast-moving, inventive and highly entertaining, Teechers is John Godber’s brilliant take on life at a modern Comprehensive.

Through their hilarious end-of-term play, three fifth-formers exuberantly sketch the new drama teacher’s progress through two terms of recalcitrant classes, cynical colleagues and obstructive caretakers. Disillusioned, he departs for the safe waters of a private school, and leaves behind his students, whose youthful irreverence gives

Brought to the stage by highly acclaimed Blackeyed Theatre with high energy, break-neck comedy and breathtaking ensemble performances, Teechers is a modern classic with something vital to say about education for the ‘haves’ and ‘have nots’.
