Seller Insight This very handsome home, which was built by the current owners in 2009, occupies a prime location right in the heart

of the affluent village of Todwick. “My husband and I have built several houses over the years,” says Pauline, “and when we came across this lovely plot that backs onto open pastureland, right in the centre of the village, we knew it would be the perfect place to put our new home.”

“Because we’ve been through the process so many times before, we know exactly what we like and crucially what works, so we’re able to instruct the architect who beautifully translates our ideas. The Beeches has been designed to fit perfectly within its surroundings, but inside I’d say it has more of a contemporary look and feel, and a very nice flow from room to room, which makes it a very comfortable home. We’ve also been able to incorporate technology such as under-floor heating, an internal vacuum and a fully-automated lighting system, which all comes together to make the house not only easy to live in but also very easy to maintain.”

“We have a lovely conservatory that takes in the views across the fields, all the way to Derbyshire in the distance,” says Pauline. “It’s a very relaxing room that has also been an ideal play area for the grandchildren, and the French doors create a really nice connection between inside and out, so everyday life can spill out onto the garden when the weather is warm. The garden itself is mainly laid to lawn with pretty borders, and it’s a very peaceful and private-feeling space.”

“We’ve lived in the area for many years and we really love it here,” says Pauline. “The house is just next door to the school and we have a really nice pub within walking distance. We also have excellent road and rail links, so we feel local to everything.”*

The Beeches Pages.indd 7 14/07/2016 16:40

“The kitchen is the real hub of the home and where everyone seems to congregate,” says Pauline, “but we’ve

also gained a lot of enjoyment from the cinema room. We watch sports in there and films, of course, and it’s also a really great space for a party.”
