TASC – what we are

• Created in November, 2004 by the ACostE Council.

• One of the contributions the Association makes, as the professional, learned society, to the

enhancement of the standing and skills of project control practitioners.

• One of the contributions the Association makes in support of business operations in organisations where successful projects are at the heart of what they do.

TASC – what we are• 6 trialist Project Control candidates in January, 2005;

over 200 candidates in September, 2007.

• 4 assessors in January, 2005; 19 in September 2007. 9 in the North of England, 7 in the South and 3 in the West. All assessors must be corporate members of ACostE as the relevant professional body.

• All operations are on a ‘not for profit’ basis with any surpluses put back into the services that TASC and the Association provides to the profession.

• We work only with practitioners and businesses in the field of Project Control.

TASC – what we do

• Candidate assessment, internal verification and management services, meeting the requirements of ECITB as the awarding body.

• As part of the ACostE, contribute to the development of all the Project Control Occupational Standards, Assessment Strategies and Qualification Structures on which the National Vocational Qualifications are based.

• Recruit senior project control professionals and support, mentor and train them to become

qualified TASC or in-company assessors.

TASC – what we do

• Provide a confidential Benchmarking service giving an unbiased, external view of a project control function’s competence and to identify individual and function development needs.

• Provide mentoring and guidance to candidates and their management in support of their

individual and company NVQ programmes.

• Develop and deliver specific topic training to candidates that is focussed on the knowledge requirements of the standards. As part of the ACostE professional body input, such training is either free or heavily subsidised.

• Through our assessors and the ACostE, provide candidates with access to networking

opportunities and access to the range of expertise available from the Association’s Special Interest Groups.

• Use our assessors as proposers of suitable NVQ candidates for membership, at the appropriate grade, of the ACostE. The Association does not charge the usual processing and first year’s membership fee for such applicants.

• Currently discussing with a University the possibility of using the Level 4 NVQ as a direct entry route to post-graduate qualifications.

• Working with ECITB, and major businesses, to develop and implement technician and graduate apprenticeships and training programmes.
