January 2015 Volume 6, Issue 6
Revising the school improvement plan of Worth County High School (WCHS) is in pro-
gress, and we want your input! This plan guides the programs and practices that we have in
place for students, teachers, and stakeholders. In order to make our school the best it can
be, we need input from everyone who is involved in and impacted by the success of our high
school.
If you are the parent of a student who attends WCHS, we would like to invite you to
attend a stakeholders meeting with us on January 14, 2015 from 12:00 until 1:00 in the
school improvement office.
There is limited seating so claim your spot today by sending your RSVP to Kathy Con-
ger at [email protected] or call 229-777-8439.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, you may submit input on our website at
www.worthschools.net. Located under the topic School Improvement Plans, click on the link
for Worth County High School. The school improvement plan can be viewed and comments
may be submitted.

Come Be A Part Of The Revision of the School-Wide School Improvement Plan! Your Input Is Important!
School Attendance Procedures In accordance with Geor-
gia Law, students below the
age of 16 are required to at-
tend school. Attendance is
kept period by period, and
students are required to at-
tend every period of each day.
A written excuse must be pre-
sented to the attendance of-
fice no later than 3 school
days after the absence. Fail-
ure to comply will result in the
absence being coded as
“unexcused” and will result in
the student losing the privilege
of making up missed work.
The attendance office is lo-
cated in the front office. Atten-
dance boxes have been
placed throughout the school
for students to put excuses in.
Students who check-out early from school must bring a written excuse
for that check-out, or this will
result in an un- excused ab-
sence.
Check-out notes must be
turned in to the main office
prior to 8:00 a.m. If a student
needs to ride a different bus,
the note must include an ad-
dress where the student is
getting off.
Students may present no more
than eight (8) parent notes for
excused absences during the
2014-2015 school term. ALL
other notes must be officially vali-
dated
notes from physicians, dentists,
health department personnel, funeral directors, minis-
ters, or other agencies in order to
be considered as an excused ab-
sence.
Parents of students ages 10 –
16 who have five (5) unexcused
absences will receive notification
from the Worth County School
District Child Attendance Team for
a parent meeting.
Students missing 9 or more
unexcused absences in a full
credit course or 5 or more in a 1/2
credit course will result in no credit
for that class.

Georgia Parent Survey. It contains 24 questions, and parents are able to
complete the survey using their personal computers, smartphones or
iPads. For parents who do not have access to the Internet, please contact
Kathy Conger at 229-777-8439 for assistance. It is not mandatory for parents
to participate, but all parents are encouraged to complete the Georgia Parent

Our Ram Band had an amazing experience during the winter break in Atlanta. Their trip got off to a questionable start
with a blowout on their charter bus, but everything was uphill from there.
From dining at the historical Varsity to cheering on the Red Knight at the Medieval Times dinner show, the kids had a
variety of memorable activities during the trip.
The Concert Band and Jazz Band both performed for a panel of judges
from three universities. Both groups received First Place in Division 2 (based on
school population). There were eight states represented at these events. The
Jazz Band received the highest score of any school in any of the judged areas:
Concert, Jazz, Field Show and Parade.
Four Jazz students were recognized for outstanding musicianship (the
only individual performers recognized at all!): Donald Johnson, Ashley Luke and
Brandon Shaner. Carlmalita Parker was given a plaque for being the Out-
standing soloist.
Upon entering the Georgia Dome, the Ram band was also awarded a
First Place trophy for marching in the Peach Parade.
Ms. Hutchinson would like to thank everyone who helped her get our students there!
The 2014 WCHS Ram Yearbook
took second place in the Ameri-
can Scholastic Press Associa-
tion's fall yearbook competition.
The yearbook scored high in ar-
eas of content presentation, gen-
eral page design, general photog-
raphy, publication structure, and
creativity. Congratulations to Edi-
tor Daniel Russell and the entire
staff for their hard work!
On December 17, 2014, the

ered supplies to Best Friends
Humane Society. The students
brought in items during Decem-
ber to help the shelter. The stu-
dents pictured are Zach Kennedy,

ture are workers from Best

The Elementary and Secondary Education Assistance Act of 1965 (ESEA)[Section 1111 (6)(A)] These
regulations allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this informa-
tion to you. At any time, you may ask:
Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching,
Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and
What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and ma-
jor(s) or area(s) of concentration. You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your child
receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional’s qualifications.
Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed in
school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled.
