THE KIDS DISCO PARTY STORY Trent Ray founded Kids Disco Parties in 2011 while teaching at Laburnum Primary School in Blackburn. Every year Trent (Aka DJ Ray Ray) would host the annual Junior School Disco sparking a curious parent to ask if he would like to entertain at his child’s birthday party. The rest is history and Trent soon found himself hosting discos most weekends as a prized kids entertainer. Word spread of the fun to be had, so over the past few years Trent enlisted his colleagues Sam Macaulay, Tim Gray, Ashleigh Hudson, Maddi Byrne, Olivia Mahon, Michael Findlay, Kate Price, Melissa Jackman, Nadia Mezzina, Mat Vogel, Yasmine Luu and Laura Ellis to form the Kids Disco Parties crew. Our ever growing crew of awesome DJs now host 100s of children’s celebrations, events and school fundraisers all over Melbourne each year. What age groups do you cater for?

Discos are for all ages, however we generally suggest our services are suited to children aged from 4 to 12 years of age.

Where is the best place to have the party?

Our entertainers can adapt to your party or event location so it’s completely up to you, be at home, or a venue of your choice. Indoors is best.

For school events held in halls, we recommend sectioning off an area of the disco to assist with crowd control and ensuring everyone is engaging in the disco activities.

Should we darken the space?

Disco lighting is provided, so it is suggested that a location is darkened to help us create an instant disco atmosphere (particularly if you choose a day time party or an event during day light savings). Indoor spaces always work best.

What do parents do at the party?

You need to sit back, relax and let us do the rest! All DJs/entertainers are fully registered and trained teachers with a working with children’s check, PPCA DJ licenced and covered by Public Liability Insurance. With over 10 years experience in working with children, our entertainers are more than comfortable to supervise parties of up to 30 children.

If you are hosting a birthday party, keep in mind we’ll schedule a half time break for the kids to have a drink and something to eat. You may wish to cater for this.

What do I need to provide?

All you need to provide are the kids and a suitable space. Keep in mind we will schedule a short break – this is a perfect time to serve food and drinks. There is no need to provide your own glow sticks, flashing trinkets etc. We bring enough glow sticks for all of the kids PLUS loads of prizes to keep the kids engaged in the disco activities.

What is a good number of children for a birthday party?

We suggest a minimum of 15 but up to 40 children will create a great atmosphere for your disco party.

How do I pay?

To keep things simple, we accept one full payment from the date you book up until 48 hours prior to the event. We will send you an invoice for online payment via Credit Card. If you wish to make a direct deposit using our account details just let us know.

Do you service outside of Melbourne Metro areas?

Of course! Please note that travel surcharges apply for events outside of 30km of Melbourne CBD to cover the Event Host’s time and travel expenses.

How can we help make it a success?

It’s simple. Keep it simple. The most successful parties avoid too many additional distractions. To give us every chance of engaging the kids we request removing chairs and keeping food/snacks and sugary drinks to the break times.
