LOWRY NEWS April 19, 2018 Thank You for Helping Our Students SOAR! Congratulations to 5th grade student-Abigail Martinez! Abigail was selected as the student who represented our school at the state poster judging. Twenty-seven schools participated in this year's contest. The posters of all twenty-seven school winners will be displayed in the atrium of the Colorado State Capitol from April 16 through April 23rd. "Arbor Day Poster Contest" sponsors an annual poster contest that is open to students in 5th grade. It is a great way for students to express and create a poster that reflects their understanding of the important role trees play in our community and how to celebrate trees. Congratulations Abigail and a great job to all the 5th grade students for their wonderful entries! ********************************************************************** Penny Harvest: The Student Ambassadors are running the annual Penny Harvest until Friday, May 4, and hope to raise a substantial amount this year. OPEN VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AT SCHOOL ~ PLEASE CONSIDER GETTING INVOLVED TO HELP OUT SCHOOL COMMUNITY

The purpose of the CSC is to implement strategies for the achievement of Lowry students. One way is by creating, guiding and evaluating a Unified Improvement Plan (UIP). The CSC is a policy-setting and decision-making body of our school. CSC makes decisions about how funds received from DPS, supplementary grants, and the Aviator Fund would be best spent to support the UIP. CSC meetings are held monthly and are open to the public. For the 2018-2019 school year, there are (3) open parent CSC positions. Interested parents must self-nominate by providing a brief bio, an explanation of why they would like to be a member of the CSC, and a picture of him/herself. Contact Theress Pidick, if interested, at [email protected].

The Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is parents, staff and the community working together to enrich and improve the school experience by providing activities and resources that build our Lowry community. The PTO helps to organize and coordinate many school events. PTO meetings are held monthly, are open to the public and the Principal attends. Willing parents (positions can also be shared and expanded to committees) fill positions and the time commitment varies by committee or position. Contact Charis Sederberg, if interested, at [email protected].
