Supporting All Teachers
Communication• Teachers keep their EMS or classroom web pages
updated regularly - Form on webpage for parent access
• Team homework calendar link on main team page.• Weekly email sent to all parents with classroom
agendas, team announcements. • Goal for 8th grade students to advocate for
their needs and speak with teachers first, then parent communication.
• Want to meet with whole team? Contact Ms. Renaud to coordinate a time.
AAA Afternoon
snacks & studiesMost Thursdays 3:40-4:45
BYOD
• Fourth year in 8th grade - we love it!• Need to be brought to all classes every day - make
sure they’re registered• For education not entertainment • Charge nightly - helpful to bring charger to school• Know your passwords
Standards-based Grading• Team has consistent 4-point grading system for classwork and
assessments.• Grades reflect what students know and can do
▫ NOT based on compliance factors (No grades in IC for turning in signed forms, and etc).
• Grades reflect mastery of skills.▫ Look for 3s and 4s. Lower scores mean kids should work with
teacher to retake• Percentages WILL look different in IC than what you’re
used to (Next Slide)▫ Dollar -> Euro
• Students who put forth effort, complete assigned work, and take their learning seriously will still find success with this system.
