Maps and Data Skills (20%) Assignments and assessments based on using maps and data to create appropriate hypotheses about historical events. Just like in a science or math class, use the given data to support answers
Reading Skills (20%) Comprehension assignments based on textbook, articles, and primary sources we read as a class. For nearly all short responses, students must use CLAIM/EVIDENCE/REASONING in their response
Writing Skills (20%) Paragraph and essay responses to big historical questions. Claim, evidence, reasoning; Proper MLA formatting, research skills
Newsela Articles (10%) Nearly weekly assigned current event article to read and take a provided quiz, as well as other current event extension activities. Re-inforces non-fiction reading strategies.

sure they’re registered• For education not entertainment • Charge nightly - helpful to bring charger to school• Know your passwords
Standards-based Grading• Team has consistent 4-point grading system for classwork and
assessments.• Grades reflect what students know and can do, NOT based on
compliance factors.• Not about earning percentage points but showing mastery of skills.• Goal is to get students to grade-level mastery by providing retakes
and multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge of skill.• Percentages WILL look different in IC than what you’re used to
