On your note cards you are going to beparaphrasingthe information you find in
your sources. Paraphrasing means readingthe information and then writing it in yourown words!

If you copy someone else’s words from atext without giving them credit, it is called
Plagiarism. This is a BIG NO NO!!! You can get into serious trouble if you are accused
of plagiarizing. In college, you can get expelled if you plagiarize.

There should be one note card for everysection of your outline. Each note card is
to show the section of the outline that theinformation is about and should show thenumber of the source the you used.

Note card should be written VERY NEATLY!The information on the note cards should
be in your own words.You need to have at least 10 note cards.

Your next step is your rough draft. Youshould have a note card for each section of
your outline. The note cards should be putin order of your outline for the rough draft.

Take the information from the note cardand turn it into a journal entry that is in
first person. Remember, when you writein first person, you are using words suchas I, me, my, mine. You are writing itthrough the eyes of your famous person!

Parenthetical Citation is where you citeyour source at the bottom of every journal
page. This tells your readers that youdidn’t make up the information on thepage – you got it from another source.You put it in (parenthesis) at the end of
the very last sentence.

The Parenthetical Citation is theauthor’s last name with the page number…
if there is a page number. If there isn’t anauthor, you should use the name of thearticle in quotations.
(Magill 200).

Finally, your final project should have:1. Title and Author with a picture on the cover of your journal.
2. Each journal page in your project should be typed.
3. Each journal page should have a picture – you mayhave more than one picture per page.
4. Each page should have a date in the top right-handcorner-it can be just a year. This is a journal of aperson’s life so the pages are in the order of theevents occurred in his/her life.

6. There should be a short summary of the journal – this is like a review that you see
on the inside jackets of books or on theback of the book. It tells the reader whatthe book is about and some of thehighlights. The summary should be on theback cover of your book.
