3D Modeling / Class A Surfacing of interior and exterior parts of the vehicles. My role as a Digital Modeler at Tesla focused on vehicle development, which required an understanding of the detailed design and manufacturing process involved in creating a product. I collaborated with designers and engineers across the company to ensure that the design intent and manufacturing feasibility of the 3D models were satisfied.

Vehicle Frame / Structural Components

The vehicle frame highlights the main structure of the interior. I was responsible for 3D modeling these interior components along with the headliner or ceiling structure of the vehicle.

Food FactoryColumbia University GSAPPCritic: Laurie Hawkinson Spring 2017

This project ties together the different phases of food production- processing, distribution, consumption, and post consumption. The goal of Food Factory is to provide a hub for all things food related: research and education, innovation, and fabrication. Food Factory includes a 3D printing food lab, a research library, a restaurant, factory space, and a goat farm. The goats inhabit the building and serve as a means to show visitors how they can live and produce dairy products. The aim of Food Factory is to put food in sight. Factories are no longer structures that are separated from the consumer, but instead the factory and production process is celebrated.

Transitional GeometriesColumbia University GSAPPCritic: Trevor Watson Spring 2017

This project explores interactive elements for the public through the use of rubber mold casting. I began by sketching two dimensional designs that would engage with the viewer and create a sense of scale. However, this first iteration remains separated and removed from the viewer. From this 2D model I wanted to enhance the experience for the user and create a climbable installation. The final mold generates an interactive and hands-on piece.

Commuter TerminalColumbia University GSAPPCritic: Marc Tsurumaki Fall 2016

Commuters currently have the same complexities and programs that regular passengers have in an airport. This terminal will address the specific needs of commuters by creating a small scale terminal that will contain localized programs. The ultimate goal is to ease the process at airports, take advantage of wait times, and understand the complexity of airport layouts. The commuter terminal is looking at the future of airport security where passengers will be able to check in through security on a phone, or alternatively, passengers will have the opportunity to swim at the airport pool. At the pool, the humiliating, stripping down process of airport security becomes a form of relaxation.

Pier 26Columbia University GSAPPCritic: Jeffrey Inaba Spring 2016

This laboratory space is constructed at Pier 26 in New York City for the Hudson River Project, a research institute for the Hudson River. The lab evokes an uncanny experience as the space seemingly floats above water. The lab is constructed to use the structure of the pier as the spaces hang over the water. The tubes set within the water are not structural as one might initially think, but instead are meant to act as catalysts for any biological growth that occurs in the river. Visitors and lab instructors will be able to study and have access to the diverse life that exists in the river by means of these synthetic tubes.

The New Garden ApartmentCritic: Charles Eldred Fall 2015Partner: Amanda Hibbs

This project examines existing housing typology in New York City in order to create a new type of housing. The New Garden Apartment combines the success of the Garden Apartment type and the Tower in the Park type to create a new and improved typology. The New Garden Apartment combines elements from the Tower in the Park and from the Garden Apartment to give residents increased access to light and air and provide more garden space to residents.

Bee BankCritic: Stella Betts Spring 2015

Bee Bank manages, leases, and sells bee hive space and laboratory space to local residents in Long Island City, Queens, and to educational institutions in New York City. Within the building the structure is constantly exposed to nature and the natural world. The mesh tubes provide the main structure of the building and further create a habitat for the bees.
