Many are for Kindergarten or the Younger Kindergarten. Some are also asking to transfer from other schools. As you would be aware there are limits on how many children not living in our area that I can enrol. It is therefore vital that I am aware of all local families seeking to enrol. If you have neighbours or friend interested in attending please have them make contact with the school as a matter of urgency. There may be some places for non local so these folk need to make contact as well. When non local folk ask to enrol here I always ask why. The responses make me feel very proud as the high quality of our school seems to be commonly known. YS—2 Reptile Park Excursion Families who responded to the initial Reptile Park excursion will by now have received final information letter with all details and requests. There may be still some seats available for those who did not respond to the initial invitation. Please make enquires to the office if wishing to be involved. EFTPOS We now have this facility in our office. All future re- quests for payment will have an option to pay by debit and credit cards. It would be greatly appreci- ated if paying by debit card that this is completed by 2.50p.m. School Musical Teachers will soon be starting to prepare their class act for the end of year musical. You might like to mark 9th December on your calendar for this one. Jewellery At School I remind all that the children should not be wearing jewellery to school. The reason seems fairly obvi- ous—danger, injury causing, possibility of loss, crea- tion of fashion competitions and so on. Basic earrings are acceptable. I ask all to support this. School Parent The fourth edition of School Parents is out now. It’s packed with great information for parents in- cluding articles about how to make a low waste lunch and how to go green between home and school, helping children with public speaking, reading, making the most of children’s different learning styles and much more. There are videos on high school orientation and whooping cough and a podcast on talking to children about ethics. www.schools.nsw.edu.au/ezine Premiers’ Reading Challenge There seems to be some confusion about the process this year so the following will explain. The important thing is the children have been doing their reading. I was of the understanding that parents were asked to go on line and regis- ter their children. It may well be that I misunder- stood this thus, I will have staff register all the children. All children will be given a record keeping sheet. All children will be given a note for parents to sign that permits names to be published in the Sunday Telegraph. All children completing the challenge will receive a certificate. Students for 2010

I am having quite a lot of families requesting enrol-ment for 2010.

YS—2 Reptile Park Excursion

Families who responded to the initial Reptile Park excursion will by now have received final information letter with all details and requests. There may be still some seats available for those who did not respond to the initial invitation. Please make enquires to the office if wishing to be involved.

EFTPOS

We now have this facility in our office. All future re-quests for payment will have an option to pay by debit and credit cards. It would be greatly appreci-ated if paying by debit card that this is completed by 2.50p.m.

The fourth edition of School Parents is out now. It’s packed with great information for parents in-cluding articles about how to make a low waste lunch and how to go green between home and school, helping children with public speaking, reading, making the most of children’s different learning styles and much more. Premiers’ Reading Challenge

There seems to be some confusion about the process this year so the following will explain. The important thing is the children have been doing their reading. I was of the understanding that parents were asked to go on line and regis-ter their children. It may well be that I misunder-stood this thus,

• I will have staff register all the children.

• All children will be given a record keeping sheet.

• All children will be given a note for parents to sign that permits names to be published in the Sunday Telegraph.

• All children completing the challenge will receive a certificate.

Literacy & Numeracy Week Further in this publication you will find details of our plans this year. The week will also include our Book Week activities.
