Week 10 - We've made it! What a term it has been. We have learnt to administer education in a completely different way. We have learnt to 'socially distance' and conduct meetings and lessons utilising various modes of technology. We have managed to conduct Parent Teacher conferences (without leaving the house) and become accustomed to congratulating people with an 'elbow touch'. Our level of cleanliness has increased 10 fold, and as a result, we have seen a reduced number of school absences due to sickness than normally experienced at this time of the year (there is a positive!). As a Principal, I have been so impressed to see how our staff, students and families have taken each new challenge in their stride, ensuring that our common goal at the end of each day, delivering education to children, in a safe environment, is achieved. Farewell - At the end of this term we also farewell some long-standing staff members at St Phil's who we wish the very best in their new endeavors! Mrs Sharon Weber who has been with the school for 28 years, Mr Brian Keogh for 10 years and Mrs Kelly Farr for 13 years. Mrs Farr has also included a note to our families later in the newsletter. We thank each of these wonderful people for their contributions to our school community, of which they will always be a cherished part of. Term 3 Planner - On the following page you will find our Term 3 planner. At this stage, all activities are still only applicable for students and staff. Masses, liturgies, assemblies, craft afternoons etc are still not open to parents and the school community. If and when there are changes to this, I will notify all families. School Extensions - With the growth of our school, comes the requirement to grow our infrastructure. I am pleased to advise that this week I will be meeting with the CEDB to discuss the school Master Plan; included in our discussions will be the extension of stage 2 classrooms and the addition of an outside amenities (toilet) block. School Uniform - We still have a number of students arriving with incorrect uniform , including missing ties, sports jackets with normal uniform etc. Can I please ask that you utilise the school holidays to sort any additional requirements, remembering the excellent range of clothing available through our clothing pool. Please contact the ladies at the front office to arrange a time to visit the clothing pool. Uniform & Bag System- Our Yr 6 leaders have included a report and explanation of the Uniform and Bag check / rewards system they have been running this term and will continue in term 3. I thank them for their leadership and have been impressed with the results thus far! ? There are two things we should give our children: one is roots and the other is wings.?? Farewell lovely St Phil?s Community

As may you know, I have taken leave during 2020 in order to make a positive move for my family and myself. Our daughter, Millie, was diagnosed with climatic asthma when she was younger and we were advised she would benefit from living in a warm, moist climate. Jim and I have spent most of our teaching careers in the Bathurst Diocese and made many valuable lifelong friends with fellow teachers, parents and community members. As I have spent half of my teaching career (13 years!) at St Phil?s in the capacity of classroom teacher, creative arts teacher, gifted and talented teacher and support teacher, it is only natural that many of you in the school community have made an impact on me. I would like to thank the parents who have allowed me to share in the trust and care of helping educate your beautiful children. I would like to thank the staff that have given me support and shared many laughs with me over the years, particularly appreciating all my Seinfeld quotes and commiserating with me over St Kilda losses. Finally, the kiddos! I already miss your happy faces and friendly natures. I absolutely loved teaching you all, as in my role of support teacher I was helping in each classroom and able to get to know you all. I will miss your great sense of humour and positive attitude you bring to St Phil?s, you?re a credit to your families and teachers.I have been successful in gaining a teaching position at Holy Family Catholic School at Skennars Head, so back into the classroom I go! There are about 420 students and many staff so safe to say I am still finding my way around. Although I am missing many elements of Bathurst, my drive to work overlooking the ocean helps! My best wishes for you all for a happy and healthy future. God bless, Mrs Farr xx
