Wrap Attack Warrior Report Congratulations families for supporting our lifelong learning about the importance of eating well and minimising wrappers in our school. There have also been amazing students picking up papers in their lunchtimes!

We have an amazing achievement! The Year 2 Kookaburras class have recorded 20 ‘Wrap Attack Warriors’ last week! What a great start! They are in the running for the winning class at the end of the term. All of our 17 classes have been participating and recording their winners on our ‘Google Drive’ spreadsheet with many classes showing great improvements! Even in 3 weeks….

Many teachers are reminding their families through Class Dojo and newsletters. The competition will be close this term.

Please encourage your child to bring along their lunchbox each Wednesday without zip lock, plastic bags, wrappers and packets.

Try to use fruit and vegetables that are in season and bring them in washable and reuseable containers. Encourage your children to be responsible and involved in helping decide what to pack and preparing their own lunches.

‘The Big Vegie Crunch’ - Next Thursday, 25 May!

On Thursday, 25 May, around 20 schools in the Southern NSW Local Health District will resonate with the sounds of healthy crunching, for a record-breaking attempt to have children in schools around NSW simultaneously eating vegetables.

Vegetable Week and The Big Vegie Crunch provides free resources to teachers in registered primary schools in NSW. Telling children to eat more vegies simply because they’re ‘healthy’ doesn’t work. So the Healthy Kids Association is coordinating the Crunch, with the aim of encouraging children to increase their knowledge of vegetables through greater exposure to them.

According to the recent National Nutrition Survey, while 68 per cent of children eat the recommended serves of fruit every day, only 5.4 per cent are eating enough vegetables.

Children might not have access to, or choose not to, eat around five serves of vegetables every day, the recommended amount for those aged 4 – 12. However, the school setting, combined with positive peer pressure, can get children to try different varieties.

Please join our school in bringing along a fresh vegetable to ‘Crunch’ for fruit break on the 25th of May!

Mrs Narelle Constable (Wrap Attack Warrior/‘Big Vegie Crunch’ Organiser)

If your child has been recently diagnosed with a medical condition such as Asthma, the school requires information and a health plan.
