THE COLLECT OF THE DAY Celebrant The Lord be with you. People And with your spirit.

Celebrant Let us Pray. Almighty and merciful God, it is only by your grace that your faithful people offer You true and laudable service: Grant that we may run without stumbling to obtain your heavenly promises; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

THE FIRST LESSON (The people sit) EXODUS 16:1-15 Reader The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God.

PSALM 78:14-26 (Please stand if able)

In the daytime he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a fiery light. He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep. He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers. Yet they sinned still more against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert. They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved. They spoke against God, saying, “Can God spread a table in the wilderness? He struck the rock so that water gushed out and streams overflowed. Can he also give bread or provide meat for his people?” Therefore, when the Lord heard, he was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob; his anger rose against Israel, because they did not believe in God and did not trust his saving power. Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven,

and he rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven. Man ate of the bread of the angels; he sent them food in abundance. He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens, and by his power he led out the south wind[.] Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

THE SECOND LESSON (The people sit) EPHESIANS 4:1-16 Reader The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God.

THE GOSPEL (Please stand if able) Celebrant The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St. John. People Glory to You, Lord Christ. JOHN 6:24-35

Celebrant The Gospel of the Lord. People Praise to You, Lord Christ.

THE SERMON (The Rev.) Dave Simmons

THE NICENE CREED (Please stand if able)

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, visible and invisible.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through Him all things were made. For us and for our salvation He came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; He suffered death and was buried. On the third day He rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his Kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Reader Let us pray for the whole state of Christ’s Church and the world. Inspire your universal Church by your Spirit,

THE CONFESSION AND ABSOLUTION OF SIN (The people sit or kneel if able) Celebrant Let us humbly confess our sins to Almighty God. All Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against You in

thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.

Amen.

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. I love You above all things, and I desire to possess You within my soul. And since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, I beseech You to come spiritually

into my heart. I unite myself to You, together with all your faithful people, and I embrace You with all the affections of my soul. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

All baptized followers of Jesus are invited to come forward to receive communion, row by row. The priests will bring communion to anyone who would rather receive in the pews.

I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE

I am the Bread of life; he who comes to Me shall not hunger, he who believes in Me shall not thirst. No one can come to Me unless the Father draws him.

Chorus And I will raise him up, and I will raise him up, and I will raise him up on the last day.

The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world, and he who eats of this bread, he shall live forever, he shall live forever.

Unless you eat of the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink of his blood, and drink of his blood, you shall not have life within you.

I am the resurrection, I am the life; he who believes in me, even if he die, he shall live forever.

Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who has come into the world.

THE POST-COMMUNION PRAYER

Celebrant Let us pray. All Heavenly Father, we thank You for feeding us with the spiritual food of the

most precious body and blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we who receive, physically and by intention, are living members of the body of your Son and heirs of your eternal Kingdom. And now Father, send us out to do the work You have given us to do, to love and serve You as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. CLOSING HYMN GUIDE ME, O THOU GREAT JEHOVAH

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah, pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak, but Thou art mighty; hold me with thy pow'rful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me now and ever more! Feed me now and evermore. Open now the crystal fountain whence the healing stream doth flow; Let the fiery, cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through. Strong Deliv'rer, strong Deliv'rer, be Thou still my strength and shield! Be Thou still my strength and shield. When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside; Death of death and hell's destruction, land me safe on Canaan's side. Songs of praises, songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee, I will ever give to Thee!

POSTLUDE LORD, I NEED YOU

Lord I come, I confess; bowing here I find my rest, And without You I fall apart; You're the one that guides my heart. Chorus Lord I need You, oh, I need You, ev'ry hour I need You; My one defense, my righteousness, oh, God how I need You. Where sin runs deep your grace is more; where grace is found is where You are. And where You are, Lord, I am free; holiness is Christ in me. Where You are, Lord, I am free; holiness is Christ in me. Bridge So teach my song to rise to You when temptation comes my way. And when I cannot stand, I'll fall on You; Jesus You're my hope and stay. And when I cannot stand, I'll fall on You; Jesus You're my hope and stay.

• We had a beautiful Reconciliation Worship & Revival service with Lord of Lords Church on Wednesday, July 21! Many thanks to the 18 or so of us who joined with our brothers and sisters at Lord of Lords in prayer, worship, and hearing the Word of God. We praised Jesus as one family, prayed for each others' concerns, and left not just knowing we were family, but feeling like it as well. It was a truly special night on which the work of God was visible among us, and we look forward to all that He's going to do with our two congregations as we show Jesus to the world together!
