What an amazing term we have had so far in Year 5! This term children have been learning all about World War 2 in our amazing topic 'Through The Eyes Of A Child.' Year 5 have looked at the very moving diary of Anne Frank and even written their own diary entries from her perspective. They were absolutely fantastic and all the teacher have

been blown away by the emotion and detail all of the chil-dren have put in.

Year 5 also had the opportunity to go on a wonderful trip to Milestones Museum. They had a wonderful experience,

looking at all the different buildings and learning about what life was like during World War Two. The classrooms and

schools were certainly different! The children were very sur-prised at the lack of technology in the classroom!

RSE

The Year 5s will be having Relationships and Sex Education lessons next week.

This will involve looking at puberty - the changes that happen in male and female bodies as we grow up. Boys and girls will be split in the second session to discuss specific changes that happen to each sex, but children will learn the basics of puber-ty in their own classes in the other two sessions.

These lessons have been planned following the statutory ob-jectives for RSE so all children will take part.

Please let your child's teacher know if you have any questions or any messages concerning your child’s involvement in rela-tion to these lessons.

Life on Earth

In ‘Life on Earth,’ Year 5 will be exploring a range of different

lifecycles, including animals and plants. They will look at the

various parts of flowers and how they reproduce in different

ways. They will also explore a range of different poetry texts

and language features. They will then get the opportunity to

write and present their very own piece of poetry.

3rd-10th March - Book Fair, in the Studio - Books are available to buy after school until 4pm.

Monday 9th March - School Book Day - children may come to school dressed as their favourite book character.

4th-6th March - Lower School Residential trip to the Gordon Brown Centre.

Monday 9th March - Wellbeing Week.

Thursday 19th March - Mothers' Day Coffee Morning - everyone welcome from 09:10am-10:30am. Cake donations gratefully received on the day.

Monday 23rd March - Netball Match (home) 3:30pm.

Thursday 26th March - Merton's Got Talent 2020 - 6pm-8pm.

Wednesday 1st April - Easter Disco, in the hall. Years 3 and 4 4:30pm-5:30pm and years 5 and 6 5:30pm-6:30pm.

Friday 3rd April - Easter raffle draw, in school assembly. Great prizes to be won, tickets available from the school office. £1 a strip or 20p a ticket!
