General

By adopting modular design combined with latestMicrocontroller technology, �Digilarm Series 1800�provides more features than any other system available.High noise immunity is provided at very low power, henceideally suited for all industrial environments.

4-Annunciation channels are mounted on one cardmodule for compactness and cost reduction.

For input derived from �dry� field contacts, the system issupplied either in Integral on Split architecture. The visualdisplays are available in any Rows x Columnconfiguration of 8 or more windows. The integral unitand the windows cabinet in case of Split system are flushpanel mounting type.

Audible alarm device (Hooter/buzzer etc.) and PushButtons are generally supplied �loose� for separatemounting but can be provided on front of the Annunciationunit itself, if so required by the customer.

Unsurpassed versatility of the �Series - 1800� systempermits field alteration of virtually every major aspect ofAnnunciators operation - Working voltage, NO/NC inputAlarm Sequence, First-out groups, etc.

Use of microcontroller has greatly reduced the numberof components, thereby enhancing reliability. Nomaintenance required. Not even lamps. Long life, superbright LED�s have been used. No parts that could callfor replacements.

Masterless Modules

In safety critical applications like Alarm Annunciators, itis paramount that the reliablity of equipment is secondto none. Unlike other microprocessor based systems,the �Series - 1800� Annunciator has no master moduleand hence no single source of system failure. Each 4 -way alarm card has its own Microcontroller which iscapable of complete function including flashergeneration. If this board is removed or the IC goes faulty,then no other card�s working is affacted. The worst�system fault� that could occur would be loss of 4 - Alarmways. And it can be set right just by replacing with aspare card.

Field Programmability

System uses a Plug-in, SMPS type, Power supplymodule having� Universal� input (any volts between 90-270V AC or DC). System working voltage alteration istherefore easily possible without making any change inthe supply unit.

Alarm operational sequence, one out of 8 given in thesequence chart can be selected by shorting / openingof 3-jumpers provided on each card. This will assignalarm sequence for the 4-Ann. channels on that verycard. Desired sequence must be individualy assignedto every card in an Ann. unit.

Operation from NO or NC input contact can be changedon a per point basis simply by flip of DIP switchesprovided on every card.

Sequence Logic CardsThe Alarm logic module uses Solid State Microcontrollertechnology to provide unparalled reliability. Glass epoxyPC boards are used. 4 - idendical annunciation waysare packaged on each card moudle which plug intoconnector sockets of the mother board and areinterchangeable. 4 �Red� LED indicators working inparallel to the LED lamps output is a standard feature.One �Yellow� LED indicator is provided to showhealthiness of the mocrocontroller IC and it flashes wheneverything is healthy.

Single 24 V DC Power is needed and voltages forworking of logic, lamps etc. are generated on the carditself. Conscientiously designed circuit schemes areused to filter out EM & RF noises associated with thefield inputs, Push Buttons and Power Supply.

LED windowsThe visual display window requires only 30 mA tooperate in comparison to 120 mA for conventionalfilament lamps and do not require replacements. LED�scan be ordered in two different colours. RED/YELLOWto easily differentiate groups of points by urgency, First- out groups or nature of alarms.

Push ButtonsTerminals are provided to connect 4 PB�s for Test (Fullsequence test), Lamp Test, Accept and Reset functions.In case of First - out sequence test facility is irrelevantand therefore has not been provided. The Test buttonworks as First out Reset Button. In case of IntegralAnnunciators the push buttons, as an option, can beprovided on the front of the Annunciation Unit itself

First-out Group ExpansionIn case of First -out sequences the first fault in a groupof faults has to be notified. In some applications the groupcan be very large. �Series-1800� can be used in multi-units. First-out group expander output has been madeavailable on each unit. �FOEXP� of the different unitscan be looped together to make a bigger first-out group.

Automatic Sound CancellationWhenever any new fault occurs, the alarm hooter contact�HTR� closes. It breaks when �ACK� button is pressed orafter 10 Mins. automatically.

Split ArchitectureThe windows and the Logics can be supplied in seperateenclosures to be mounted seperately.

Windows are arranged in any rows x columnconfiguration in flush panel mounting window-boxes withrear connection terminals. Logics together with powersupply modules and the input/output terminals aresupplied in wall mounting chasses (if the system is small)or in standard Cabinets for large systems.

Alarm Annunciator

16XX represents more than a premier use ofMicrocontroller based Logic in a generalpurpose Annuciator. It has some uncannyversatillity. Virtually every major aspect of theannunciators operation can be altered in thefield with nothing more than the flip of a dipswitch.

16XX is functional & cost efficient for the routinemonitoring of a few points as it is forsophisticated multi-sequence applications.

CMOS microcontroller has been used, whose quality is well known.Number of components used have been greatly reduced, therebyenhancing realibility. Small size allows application to users nothaving large panel space. High noise immunity, robust cabinet,quality plated terminals make the instrument suitable for use inPower plants, Chemical Plants, Small D.G. sets etc. Outstandingfeatures are(i) Operates on any volts AC or DC(ii) Selectable sequences.Mount it, connect it & forget it. FILED PROGRAMMABILITYAlarm operational sequence can be selected or changedsimply by change of DIP switches. Operation from NOor NC input contact can be changed on a per point basisagain simply by change of DIP switches. One DIP switchmarked RB/X has been provided to programme acommon relay contact marked RBHTR / XRL. It selectseither Ringback Hooter contact or Auxillary/Trippingcontact in case of Ringback sequences. In case of othersequence (without Ringback) this switch is inoperativeand the output contact in Aux. /Tripping contact only.

LED WINDOWSThis visual display window requires 20 mA to operateversus 120 mA for conventional filament lamps and donot require replacements. LED�s can be ordered in twodifferent colours, Red/Yellow to easily differentiategroups of points by urgency, First-out grouping or natureof alarms.

PUSH BUTTONS4- Push buttons have been provided on every unit forTest (Full sequence test). Lamp test, Acknowledge andReset functions. In case of First-out sequences asequence test facility is irrelevant and therefore has notbeen provided. The Test button works as First-out Resetbutton. These 4- PB�s connections have been broughtout to the rear terminals also for remote PB�s connectionsor for common PB�s in case of multi-unit system.

FLASHER SYNCHRONISATIONEvery 16XX unit has its own flasher built inside. In caseof multi-unit system the flashing of each unit may bedifferent and therefore visualy does not look appealing.A flasher synchronisation facility has therefore beenmade available. Any unit can be considered as masterand the flasher output from master unit may be connectedto the Flasher Synch. Inputs of all other units.

FIRST-OUT GROUP EXPANSIONIn case of First-out sequences the first faults has to benotified. In some applications the group can be very large.16XX can be used in multi-units. First-out group expanderoutput has been made available on each unit. �FOEXP�of the different units can be looped together to make abigger first-out group.

AUTOMATIC SOUND CANCELLATIONWhenever any new fault occurs, the alarm hooter contactHTR closes. It breaks when ACK button is pressed orafter 10 min. automatically. In case of Ringbacksequences whenever any existing fault returns back tonormal the Ringback hooter contact RBHTR close. Itbreaks when RST button is pressed or after 10-minsautomatically.

Digicont offers a vide range of Digital Temperature Indicators for processindustries. Equipped with field selectable input sensor type, the alarms settingis Digital. Thus, unlike other controllers which have Potentiometer / Thumb wheelsetting, it gives high control accuracy. Set data is retained using EEprom insteadof battery . Line Resistance Compensation (LRC) in case of RTD input and ColdJunction Compensation (CJC) in case of Thermocouple inputs is in-built &automatic.

These instruments are available in various DIN sizes and can thereforeeasily replace existing old technology instruments.

INTRODUCTION

Digital Multichannel Temp. Indicator Model LI-4108M is basedon CMOS Microcontroller to achieve high reliability. This indicatorhas Universal Input. It accepts signal from Temp. sensor suchas RTD/ Thermocouple and can be configured accordingly byprogramming the instrument. The Alarms level setting is alsoDigital, unlike other controllers which have Potentiometer/Thumbwheell setting, thus giving high control accuracy. Set data isretained using EEprom instead of battery back up.

This low cost multichannel indicator performs almost like 8-channel Temp. Scanner. Available in standard DIN size,therefore, can easily replace existing old technology instruments.

DESCRIPTION

The Temp. Indicator has two display fields. Data field in 3½ digit &Mode field in 2 digits. All digits are of 0.6" 7-segment Red LEDdisplays. In normal mode, Data field shall display temp. value andMode field shall show Auto or Manuall mode and scanned channelno. There are 4 push Buttons on the front of the instrument panelnamely MOD, INC, SHR & ENT.

MOD ButtonUpon power on, the system always enters in Auto mode andshall select channel-1. This is indicated by �A1� at the modedisplay field. The data field shows ch. 1 temp. value. Thechannel no. will be incremented automatically at the earlierprogrammed Scan Rate.

Press MOD button and the system shall enter into manuall mode.Mode field shall show 'M1'. Data field shall display temp. valuefor ch.1, but, now the channel no. can be incremented manuallyby pressing the INC button.

Press MOD button again and system returns back to Autoscanning mode.

If MOD button is kept pressed for more than 10 seconds, thesystem jumps to Set modes, explained separately.

INC ButtonIf the instrument is working in manual mode , by pressing thisP.B., we can increment the selected channel no.

If the instrument lies in set modes, then, through this P.B. wecan increase the value of a digit where cursor lies.

SHR ButtonIf the instrument lies in set modes, then, through this P.B. wecan shift the cursor right in the data field.

ENT ButtonIn case of set modes, after the set value/program is set byusing INC & SHR P.B's, ENT button is pressed and whateverdata is available in the data field, it is saved in the memory.It is retained even when there is no power because ofEEprom.

At the rear of the instrument, 2 rows of terminals havebeen provided for connecting power supply, sensor andrelay out-put contacts.

The status of the relays are indicated on the front by 2LED lamps marked RL1 & RL2. A fixed level ofHysteresis has been provided for the set points S1 & S2.Provision has been made for automatic Line ResistanceCompensation (LRC) in case of RTD and Cold JunctionCompensation (CJC) in case of thermocouples.

For nonlinear characteristics of the sensors, automaticLinearisation has been provided through software.

PROGRAMMING THE SET POINTS S1 / S2

Keep MOD Button pressed for more than 10 secs. Themode field shall show 'S1' and data field shall display thevalue of Set point no.1. To change this value press SHRpush button till the most significant digit starts flashing.Now change this digit value by pressing INC button till thedesired value is displayed. Press SHR button again andthe next digit shall start flashing. By use of INC pushbutton set the next digit value also. Repeat the process tillall the digits are set for desired value of S1. Now pressENT push button and the set point S1 is programmed.

Press MOD button again, Mode field shall show 'S2' anddata field shall display the value of S2. Programme S2 asexplained above.

Now, press MOD button twice, Mode field shall show 'A1'and data field shall start displaying the measuredTemperature reading.

PROGRAMMING THE INSTRUMENTFOR CHANNEL HOLD / NO HOLD FACILITY,SENSOR TYPE & SCAN RATE

Keep MOD Button pressed for more than 10 secs. ModeField shall show 'S1' .Press MOD button twice further.Mode Field shall now show 'P' denoting that instrument isin programming mode. In data field the most significantdigit (first from left) shall start flashing. When it is set as'1', channel �hold� facility is selected. Channel under alarmcondition will �hold� and will not get incremented in Automode. When the digit is set as '0', alarm channel will nothold even in Auto mode. So select first digit either 0 or 1as per your requirement.

Push SHR button, the second digit from left shall startflashing. Set it 0/1/4/5/6 by pressing INC push button.These are codes of Input sensors to be used.

The last two digits of the data field are for Scan Rate inseconds. Press SHR button so that one of the last 2digits starts flashing. By use of INC push button set thedigit value as per desired scan rate. Press ENT pushbutton. Press MOD button to come out of the 'P' mode andto put the instrument into its normal Temp. reading mode.

CALIBRATION PROCEDURE

Connect standard resistance box in 3-wire connection.Take value 138.5 ohm. Program the instrument in code 2as described above and adjust Zero with the help of Zeroadjust pot. Now, program the instruement in code 1 andadjust 100 with the help of Span adjust pot. Theinstrument is now calibrated for all types of sensors.Disconnect the calibrating resistance box andreprogramme the input sensor type as per yourrequirement.

SENSOR BREAK INDICATION

Whenever input sensor for any channel gets open or isunconnected then instrument shows �Open� on the datafield. Both the alarm relays remain de-energised in thiscondition

CHANNEL SKIP FACILITY

Though, instrument is for 8 channels, however, it can beused for any number of channels lower than 8. Theunused channel gets �skipped� automatically within 0.5Sec. In Manual mode, however, channel will not skip butshall show �Open�.

Digicont make Digital Temperature Scanner, �Digiscan� Model : 3116-M is microprocessor based instrument and is a result of continuousdevelopment in the field of Instrumentation Technology. It has beendesigned keeping reliability, good appearence and easy maintenancein view. Well planned layout with plug-in type modular construction ofPCB�s reduces down-time.

�3116-M� is meant to Scan, Monitor and Control upto maximum 16-inputs. Both, �Auto� or �Manual� channel selection facility is available.The channel inputs can be from RTD�s or Thermocouples. However,single type of sensors must be connected to all inputs. Bright, 7-segment LED displays give distant visibility of Temperature Readingand Channel number. Alarm/Trip indications are indicated by LEDlamps for each channel separately.

Temperature is monitored with grouped relay outputs associated withindividual LED indication. Setting can be adjusted independently overfull span, for each channel. System is also available with single Set-point & Control OR without any Set-point & Control.

Front panel Keyboard provides �user friendly� operation andprogramming facility with easily understood display prompts. A�Memory Lock� switch has been provided at the rear so thatunauthorised tempering with the set-points is avoided.
