Techniques to Shape Students’ Behavior

What does it mean to “shape” students’ behavior? Shaping means to provide students with cues and reinforcements that direct them toward desirable behavior. As the teacher does this, the students’ personalities change and improve also. Some ways to do this are: praise, selective ignoring, time-out, consequences, motivators, reminders, negotiation, withdrawing privileges, and humor. In the next weeks, I will share information about them.
