Reduce fabrication scrap and reworkProduct teams often find it difficult to capture fabrication and assembly rules and communicate thisinformation to PCB layout tools. Discovering fabrication problems late in the process causesunnecessary scrap and rework. By using Teamcenter’s ECADViewer, your fabrication teams can identifyproblems much earlier, including determining whether multiple traces are too close together foruniform etching or whether too much copper in one area will cause plating problems. Just asimportantly, the ECADViewer enables fabrication teams to share this information with the design teambefore PCB layouts are released.

Capturing, documenting and verifying PCB design changesIn addition to viewing and sharing the data, the ECADViewer enables your product teams to mark-updesign or fabrication issues with all appropriate annotations. A set of standard PCB design textmessages have been predefined and translated into multiple languages.When team members open aPCB visualization file containing one of these predefined messages, the message’s text is automaticallytranslated to the default language of the computer that opened the file.

This robust markup capability helps team members document the nature of their design changesand highlight specific details so that everyone involved in the design process clearly understandsthese issues. As changes are incorporated into the design, product teams can use the ECADViewer toidentify and document these changes, as well as to indicate what other aspects of the design or layoutare affected.
