    The Deaf Communications InfrastructureDevelopment (DCID) Project has received over946,000 from the EU INTERREG IVAProgramme and brings together a consortium ofsix public sector and not-for-profitorganisations from Northern Ireland and theRepublic of Ireland. Each organisation specialisesin adult education and vocational skillsdevelopment. The purpose of coming togetheris to build an infrastructure that addresses the

    critical current shortage of communicationprofessionals working with deaf people toaccess public sector services. For moreinformation about the project, please visithttp://teachsign.eu/about/

    The project was officially launched on the 22ndJune 2011 at an event held in the South WestSouth WestSouth WestSouth WestCollegeCollegeCollegeCollege - Skills and Technology Centre inEnniskillen.

    Pam Tilson, from SignatureSignatureSignatureSignature, recently had theopportunity to tell NI First Minister Peter Robinsonwhat the DCID Project was all about.

    the DCID Project. Congratulations to them andgood luck as they now undertake Level 4.

    Paul Keenan (pictured left) works

    for Signature as one of the twoDCID Project Workers. Paulbegan his job in November 2010and works 22.5hours per week.Paul attends deaf clubs and deaf

    events to promote the project and recruitparticipants. He also delivers BSL/ISL deafawareness and linguistics. Paul finds his jobextremely satisfying and believes that the DCID

    Project offers:-

    Paul has had a varied career; working andvolunteering for over 15 years with deaf peopleboth in Northern Ireland and England. He has, in

    the past, been the Chairperson of the NI DeafYouth Association.

    Outside work Paul is keen on sport and is anavid Manchester United fan. Other interestsinclude reading, travelling and socialising.
