Redefining Teacher Quality
‘The experience of the (most successful) school systems suggest three things matter most: getting the right people to become teachers; developing them into
effective instructors; ensuring that the system is able to deliver the best possible instruction for every child’
(McKinsey Report, 2007. ‘How the best performing school systems come out on top’)
SHBIE Vision
Our mission is excellence in academic, research and professional development through: leading the region
in provision of quality programmes at graduate level; strengthening collaborations with strategic

Excerpt from Reflective Essay of MTeach student:
I started the lesson by asking the students to guess what the topic was about. Icarefully planned the questioning and the timing, so I was extremely happy to seehow everything fell into place. My lesson went beyond what was planned and I wasglad of the results. I hadn’t expected one of the students to provide the words ‘wake’and ‘brush’ which was exactly in my cue in teaching past tense verbs. And I was quitepleased that my students guessed correctly that the topic of that day’s lesson was thePAST TENSE.
I felt validated at that point and even more confident. I loved that feeling as it gaveme a sense of purposes-and fulfillment-that things were going according to plan.
However, I wished the questioning sounded more natural-leaning more towardsinstructional conversation…..
