TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION - 2016 On September 03, 2016 the college commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr. S Radhakrishnan and celebrated the Teachers’ Day. The teachers were treated to with a Dairy Milk and then a special program was arranged for them in the Auditorium. Chief guests of the program were Mrs. Ghangrade and Mr. Rupak from Somiaya music school. The program featured various entertaining acts by the chief guests and other teachers. The program began with lighting of lamp and then followed by Somaiya prayer. Principal Dr. Shubha Pandit felicitated the chief guests and addressed the gathering. Dr Shubha Pandit, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, highlighted the role of a Teacher in shaping the life of a student. The first act of the program, ‘Ganesh Vandana’, was presented by Sis. Shivranjanee Hegde which was followed by presentation of classical music by Mrs. Gangrade, the wife of Prof. Ajay Gangrade of the Mechanical Department. Mrs. Gangrade presented two fantastic classical songs which were enjoyed by the audience. Her act was followed by a presentation by Sampada Gokhale and Shivranjani Hegde, on the Hindi Cinema song mixed with its Sanskrit version. Their presentation was very light hearted and was enjoyed by all. Surprise elements of the function were performances by Principal madam who sang a famous hindi song and Mrs. Annu Abraham played two hindi songs on mouth organ very beautifully. Mr. Raj Katkar sang a hindi song ‘E zindagi gale laga le’ on karaoke. Prof. S R Chawde as well as Prof. Yelpale performed on this occasion. Mrs. Megha Sharma presented beautiful hindi bhajan. Later, Prof. Jyoti Varvadekar from EXTC sang a melodious Marathi song and Mrs kanaklata tiwari sang old hindi song. The Teachers’ Day program ended with all the audience members participating with Kavita Deshmukh and Shweta madam singing ‘Vande Matram’ followed by vote of thanks by Prof. S A Hanumante, Dean S A.
