Pursuit-SprintRaceYesit’sdifferent…yesitismycreation…yesifyoudon’tlikehowitworksoutyoucancometomeandvoiceyourdispleasureandIwilltaketheabuse.Thesetupwillbeahandicappedstartwithineachcategory.ThestaggerwillbebasedonperformancesinpreviousTT’swithabitofroadraceinfluence.Thismaymeansomeridersstartinginsmallgroupsandsomeasindividualsdependingonability.Ifandwhenyougetcaughtfromsomeonebehindyou,youarenoteliminated.Thewinnerisstillthefirstpersontocrosstheline.Soyoucouldgetcaught…recover…hangwiththegrouporpersonandstillwinthesprintattheend.AsoneoftheridersstartinglastobviouslyyouwillhavetobeinfullTTmodetotrackdowneveryoneandasyoucatchpeopleencouragethemtoworkwithyou.Thethinkingonthisisitgivesmoreridersachancetobeintheactionandhaveashotatatopspot.Ifagroupcanformandworktogetherthentheymaybeabletoholdoffthebiggunsfrombehindandpulltheupset.Itwillalsoencouragequickthinkingandtactics.FoodandBeveragesWithregret,wewillnotbeabletoprovidet-shirtsthisyear.Wedohoweverintendonprovidingafoodandbeverageareaagain.Withinthisareawillbefruit,snacks,pizzainacoupledifferentwavesandavarietyofrefreshments.WearealsomakinganefforttoprovideTimHortonscoffeetoparents.Thisareaisopentoracersandparentsatnocharge,butweaskyoutousesomelevelofcourtesyandensureeveryonehasanopportunitytoenjoythiscourtesy.

• Foryoursafety,ifyouwithdrawfromtheeventforanyreason,youmustinformthenearestCommissairethatyouarenolongerracing.
• Youarerequiredtowearanapproved,regulationcyclinghelmetatalltimeswhileastrideyourbike,fromthemomentyouarriveattheraceuntilyouleave.

http://www.ontariocycling.org/commissaires/commissaires-rules/• ThepenaltyscaleoftheOCArulebookwillbeapplicable.• Registrationcloses30minutesbeforethestartofeachrace.• Warminguponthecourseisnotpermittedunlesspermittedbyacommissaire.• Allridersmustsignonatregistration.• U.SridersmustpresentaUCIlicenceinordertoenterthisevent.USACDomesticLicences
arenotallowedinCanada• AllforeignlicensedridersotherthanU.S.ridersmustproducealetterofpermissionfrom
theircountry’sfederation.• AnOCArepresentativewillbepresentattheracetoassistwithriderlicensingissues.

SpecificCourseRules
• Freelapswillbeavailableuptofivelapstogo.Wheelchangeswillbeavailablefromapitarea.Theriderwillre-entertheracewiththegrouptheywereinatthetimeoftheproblem.
• Thereisnooutsidefeedingallowedinthisrace• LappedridersmaybepulledattheorderoftheCommissaires,eitherafterbeing
overtakenorjustbeforebeingovertaken.Otherwise,lappedridersmustremainseparate,evenwhenbeingovertakenbyridersintheirowngroup.
• Iftwoormoreridersovertakethefieldandremainthereafterthereislessthan5kmleftintheracefromtheperspectiveoftheraceleader,theovertakingriderswillbesprintedseparatelyfromthefield.InstructionsonthisprocesswillbegivenbytheCommissairesatthestartlinebeforetherace.

• Thewearingofanapprovedhelmetismandatory• Cyclingglovesarestronglyrecommended• Theparticipantsareencouragedtorideonaroad-racingbicycle,howeverothersuitable
bicyclesmaybeutilized• Noaerobars,timetrialbikes,orother“aero”equipmentarepermitted• Allequipmentmustbeingoodrepair,haveadequatetiresandoperatingbrakes• Warm-upideallytobecompletedontrainers.Pleasedonotwarm-upintheparkinglots
outsidethetrackastherewillbetrafficthere.Warm-uponthetrackifavailableorontheinner,emptyparkinglot
Gearing
• “Rollout”willcontinuethisyear,andwasintroducedbytheOCAtoensureafairandequalcompetitivebasisforallinvolved.
• Tolimitthecompetitiveadvantageofathleteswhomatureearly.• Toincreasetherelativeimportanceandtherebydevelopmentofracingtactics.• Toencouragedevelopmentoftechniqueandabilitytoproducepowerathighcadence.• Toreducetheriskofoveruseinjuries.AllathletesracinginGradesAthroughEwillbe
rolledoutatCyclingCanada’sdistanceof7.12Meters.
Prizes• MedalswillbeawardedtotopthreefinishersinallcategoriesinbothRRandTT• Participantsdonothavecompeteinbotheventsinordertobeelgibleforawards.
