“I just remember the bond that we created at such a youngage,” said André Drummod, who won golds in 2009 and 2010 and is a member

of the 2014-16 USA Men’s National Team. “Even to this day, we’re all out here onthe same floor again. It’s definitely a blessing that we started so early and got toknow each other well. We ended up going to big-time colleges and played against

each other. Mike (Kidd-Gilchrist) got the best of all of us and won the championship (laughs). It’s just great we’re all here in the NBA together.”

“You have to realize that this is a big sacrifice,” said 2014-16USA Men’s National Team member and 2010 U17 World Championship MVP

Bradley Beal. “Everybody plays pretty good defense. So, you have to sacrificefor the good of everybody else. That’s what I loved about the team I was on.

Everybody sacrificed and we all played together. We had one mission in mind andthat was to win the gold medal and we were able to do that. My only advice to

them is to focus on the task at hand.”

“It’s completely different from playing high school basket-ball or AAU, or a camp, because it’s really all about the name on the front ofyour chest – USA Basketball,” said Jahlil Okafor, who played on his fourth USA

team in the 2014 Nike Hoop Summit. “When you travel to those countries, whenyou walk into the gym or your walking around the streets, wherever you are at, allthe eyes are on you, and that’s because you have USA across your chest. So, youhave to forget the name that’s on the back of your jersey and just go all out

and try to represent USA Basketball in the best way possible.”

"It was more difficult, just because we were playing teamsfrom all across the world,” said three-time USA Basketball gold medalist

Tyus Jones, who dished out a USA-high 5.4 assists at the 2012 U17s and will playfor Duke University next year. “It’s not the Americas. Teams like Australia andLithuania, those teams were really tough. Our competition had another year todevelop, so they were bigger and stronger and more skilled. The difficulty in the

level of play was definitely increased going to the U17s from the U16s.”
