    Industry

    2nd GTI Workshop

Network performance and key technologies were further enhanced

6 Chinese big cities including Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen,Xiamen, Nanjing and Shanghai had finished most testing items

facing network planning, deployment and optimization by the

end of December 2012. A few important achievements were

made based on the first phase of trial as follows:

•Dual carriers satisfy TD-LTE networking capability

    •Dual carriers increase sector throughput•DL: 51Mbps

    •UL: 28Mbps

Verify the network performance of dual-carrier(2*20MHz) networking performance

    •ICIC+FSS: increase the cell-edge rate by 34%-79%

Verify the performance of inter-cell interferencesolutions

•TM3/8 adaptive: increase cell throughput by 10%-15%•DL multi-use MIMO: increase cell throughput by 5%-8%

•UL multi-user MIMO: increase cell throughput by 40%

Verify the performance of 8-antenna enhancedtechnology

TD-LTE CPRI Compression Passed Lab Test

    Industry

    2nd GTI Workshop

     Advantage of CPRI Compression

    Compression solution and testing

    1. Compression capability

Current base stations can realize 1/2~1/3 data compression by reducing

sampling rate and adjusting the number of bits

    2. Lab testing result

    • 1/2 data compression: no obvious degradation for RF performance and

    throughput

    • 1/3 data compression: light throughput degradation for cell-edge users

    2nd GTI WorkshopIndustry Progress

Antenna No. 20MHz 40MHz Daisy Chain for 10Gfiber component

    1 1.25G 2.5G 4~8

    2 2.5G 4.9G 2~4

    4 4.9G 9.8G 1~2

    8 9.8G 19.6G 1

    Advantage 1

    • Decrease highdemand of TD-LTE system forthe cost ofinfrastructure

    Advantage 2

    • Make current fibercomponents tosupport daisychain and flexiblenetworkingcapabilities

    Advantage 3

    • Reuse originalfibers to realizenetwork update ormigration

    • No extra increaseof fibers

Currently, Alcatel-Lucent, Datang, Huawei and ZTE have

finished development of TD-LTE CPRI compression and passed

lab test. This compression solution may be applied to the

network after further testing in field trial.

Status of TD-LTE Work Items in GCF

    TDD Rel-9 Enhancements Terminal Testing

To ensure the quality of LTE TDD/FDD dual mode terminal, 6 new relevant RRM testcases were supplemented at GCF CAG #32 meeting in October 2012 based on the latest

update of RAN5 test specification. All the relevant test cases are imported to the work

item for the purpose of certification.

•Updated GSMA test cases for LTE TDD/FDD dual mode terminals were also added to

make field trial tests available for terminals in FTAG#29 meeting.

LTE TDD/FDD Dual Mode Terminal Testing

At the same CAG meeting, new work items for Rel-9 Enhancements TDD Band 38,Band 39 and Band 40 were approved. These separate work items put forward

certification requirements for new Rel-9 features to ensure the consistency and

    continuity of terminal testing.
