Monitoring,DevelopmentandReviewofProgrammesandAwards8.1 MonitoringandevaluationThe monitoring, evaluation and review of the Taught Postgraduate Framework and itsconstituentprogrammesandawardsisinaccordancewiththecurrentacademicregulationsofBathSpaUniversity.Reportingtakesplaceattwolevels:AwardandFramework.The Academic Developmental report undertaken by the Award Team is concerned with theacademichealthof theAward and the modules, which it owns. It incorporates andcommentson statistical dataprovidedby StudentServices, andonfeedbackontheoperationoftheAwardwhichisobtainedfromstudents, staffandExternalExaminers.Formal responsibility for the evaluation of anAward, and themodules within it, rests with theAward Leader. The monitoring of individual modules is integral to the process ofmonitoringthe Award. The Module Co-ordinator is responsible for ensuring monitoringand evaluation ofthe module. Module evaluation shall require the participation of both students and staff.Allstudentsshallbegiventheopportunitytoevaluateallmodulestheyarestudying.The Higher Degrees (Taught) Committee is defined as the body responsible for themaintenanceofacademicstandardsacrosstheFrameworkasawhole, and forthemanagementand development of the Framework in accordance with definitive schemedocumentation.TheAnnualReporton theFramework, preparedbytheHeadofGraduateSchool, doesnotduplicatematerial contained in individualAwardReports, butdrawsupon them to provide a summary ofoperation of the Framework, togetherwith an analysis ofstatistical data provided by StudentServices. It may cover such areas as marketing, recruitment, regulationsandprocesses, andfuturedevelopmentoftheFramework.Areasofparticularconcernwillincludethefollowing:

• theequivalenceofassessmentandstandardsacrosstheFramework
• theappropriatenessofthemethodologiesadoptedfortheclassificationofMastersLevelAwards

• monitoringtargetnumbers, andadvisingonfuturetargetsFormal responsibility for the consideration of External Examiner reports rests with theAcademicQualityandStandardsCommittee.8.2 MakingchangesandplanningnewdevelopmentsThe Framework, and the University’s quality assurance processes generally, are designed topermit change and development of modules and award programmes. However, the Universitydoesrequirethatallchangesbepromptlynotifiedthroughtheproperchannels.Additionally, colleagues are encouraged todiscuss theirplanswith theHeadofGraduateSchoolseeking formal approval.Thiswill help toensure that problems are identified anddealt with atan early stage. New developments will not be permitted which infringe the regulations of theFramework itself. And though thesoftwarecancopewithmostof thethings asked of it, thereare a few limitations, which need to be borne in mind. Forinstance, colleaguesshouldnotethatoncestudentshavecommencedstudyingonamodulethe module code cannot be changedunder any circumstances. If the assessment scheme ischanged, a newassessment record for futureoccurrences of the module must be created, but the old version is retained for previous andcurrentoccurrencesofthemodule.8.3 ApprovalandreviewChanges to the structure or regulations of the Framework should be proposed by theHigherDegrees(Taught)CommitteeandapprovedbyAcademicBoard. The Framework itself, and all Subject Areas and Awards within the Scheme, will besubjecttoperiodicreviewaccordingtotheprocedureslaiddownbytheAcademicQualityandStandardsCommittee.
