LO: To design costumes based on character profiles.

Look closely at the character profiles (Macbeth characters pdf) and think about what costumes they might have worn.

How would their character traits be shown by what they are wearing?

For example: We know that Macbeth is noble so we can think about which colours and materials would show this.

By researching previous kings and noblemen we can see that they would have worn regal colours such as purple and red. The clothes probably would have been made from silk or fur.

This can then influence my costume design.

Today your task is to create a biography about the life of Shakespeare. He is the play writer of Macbeth.

LO: Use the features of a biography.

Let's take a look on the next slide at what the features of a biography are to help us write our own.

LO: Use the features of a biography.

First you will need to research some facts about him, here are some possible research questions:

• Where and when did Shakespeare live?• What is he well known for?• Who were Shakespeare's parents? Did he have any

siblings?• Where is Shakespeare buried?• What was his first play?• What was Shakespeare's school life like?

Page 17: Task 1 · play or by using the character profiles in the separate . Task 2. LO: To design a play set. Displaying your work as a diorama, choose one scene of your play to design. You

Then you will need to rewrite your facts into your own sentences choosing appropriate subheadings.

(you can use the example of Roald Dahl's biography on the next slide to help you)

Make sure you write using third person and past tense. It must use facts to explain and describe the events in their life. Try to write it using chronological order. You want to make sure you talk about their early life first before telling us about how they died.

Miss Walsh Mrs Coldrick

Miss Walsh has glasses. Mrs Coldrick has glasses

Miss Walsh is allergic to dogs. Mrs Coldrick is very persuasive and convinced her family to get a dog.

Miss Walsh likes to wear colourful clothes.

Mrs Coldrick likes to wear dark clothes..

Miss Walsh is very quiet in music assembly.

Mrs Coldrick likes to sing out loud in music assembly.

First choose an idea from either side which is discussing the same thing.

For example about animals.

Then join both of your ideas together using a comparing conjunction.

Mrs Coldrick, who teaches Sycamore class, has very persistent persuasive qualities which she uses to convince her family to buy her a dog, although it has not worked so far. On the other hand, Miss Walsh does not want a pet due to being allergic. Therefore, she uses her persuasive techniques to get her family to buy her milkshakes.

Try to up level your sentences by varying your vocabulary and sentence types. Can you spot the embedded clause and fronted adverbial in this example?
