The conflict started when Taliban terrorists hi-jacked a plane and crashed it into the world trade center on November 11, 2001.

It has been going on for 12 years.

Because of this conflict, there is much bad blood between US citizens and middle easterners. In the US, there is often racial profiling against middle easterners. In the middle east, there is often open hate directed at America.
