1st log in to “My
Account”
Tags added in Favorites will be deleted if item is deleted from Favorites.
Materials searchable by tag
Basic search of mySQL database.
Search will find all items with the tag, not just your items.
Tags are also browse-able in a number of ways.
Tagging Best Practices Only two requirements of GIL-Find:
separate by spaces, bind phrases with quotes
Develop some institutional agreement on usage. Or not.
Badke and Consentino articles have ideas for naming conventions.
Benefits and Drawbacks of Tagging
Uncontrolled language/Natural language
Under-utilized social tool in academic library catalogs.
Opportunity to create small sub-collections for displays, special events, faculty reading lists.
