For organizations still in process with contracts, please follow up
with the following:
1) These maps include data collected by the AMP team in the autumn of 2019. They
represent an environmental scan of all public arts, culture, science, and heritage events
(activities and programs) that occurred within the city of Tacoma between 2017 and 2019.
In total, more than 15,000 events were identified.
2) Events were classified using the Tacoma Creates designations 'arts' 'culture' 'science'
'heritage'. The majority of events fit into multiple classifications (e.g., a cultural event that
also has a heritage element).
3) Events were aggregated by Tacoma neighborhood council district as well as by Tacoma
elementary school catchment area. Maps based on these data were drawn in order to
highlight the parts of town where events tend to occur. Districts/catchments in the 'lowest
20%' category had the fewest events during the 2017-2019 time period, while
districts/catchments in the 'highest 20%' category had the most events.
4) Event data were also broken down by Tacoma Creates classification. This information is
located in the lower right hand corner chart.
