Letter from the CEO The Argument For Long Island

As an advocate for Long Island and an optimist in general, I believe the benefits of living and working on Long Island far outweigh the problems that have been continually put for-ward by half-empty prognosticators. The reasons that precipitated the development of Long Island by our parents and grandparents still hold true today, but need to be re-identified and vocalized, so that we remember why we chose to live and work in this special place. 1. Long Island is geographically unique—we are just a stone’s throw from the world’s greatest city, yet still have access to beautiful beaches, parks and wildlife preserves. 2. This island is home to vast supply of highly educated workers and a population that has always been committed

to the education of it’s youth. 3. Cultural diversity flourishes here, bringing about an environment of global awareness nec-

essary in today’s environment. 4. Long Island’s local governments are able to truly represent their local constituency, giving

us a much more granular feeling in our communities. Long Islanders have a lot of say in how our government is run.

5. Long Island is a source of cutting edge technology, supported by some of the world’s best research institutions—Cold Spring Harbor Labs, Brookhaven National Labs, Stonybrook University, State University at Farmingdale, and many other of the country’s finest Univer-sities and Medical Centers.

The above is only a small representation of the best of what Long Island has to offer. We’ve seen an economic downturn before, and I’m certain that because of Long Island’s singular characteristics, we’ll be seeing a complete turnaround in a short time. Yours truly, Ted Weiss, CEO

Weiss and Lynch Promoted at T. Weiss Realty Corp.

T. Weiss Realty Corp. announced two promotions this month. Craig Weiss has been promoted to Man-aging Director, and Jennifer Lynch has been promoted to Director of Leasing and Marketing.

With the promotion, Weiss, who joined his family’s company in 2007, takes on joint responsibility with his father, Ted Weiss, of operational oversight of T. Weiss Realty Corp., TOTUS Business Centers and BBRC, the general contracting arm of T. Weiss Realty.

“Craig’s promotion is directly linked to his outstanding year in 2010, in which he was responsible for the leasing of more than 110,000 square feet of office space during one of the most economically challenging times in recent memory, along with overseeing the reengineering and streamlining of the operational effi-ciencies within the company,” said Ted Weiss, founder and chief executive of T. Weiss Realty Corp.

Among his many transactions, Craig Weiss figured prominently in the deal that brought TD Bank’s regional suburban headquarters to 42,000 square feet at T. Weiss’ new Class-A office building, Melville Corporate Center III, at 324 S. Service Rd.

A cum laude graduate of the University of Richmond, Weiss holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a concentration in finance.

Jennifer Lynch, who joined T. Weiss three years ago, recently received her master’s degree in real estate, with a concentration in strategic real estate management from New York University. She is also a graduate of Harborfields High School, and received a bachelor of arts degree in Eng-lish in 2004 from Lehigh University.

Ms. Lynch's responsibilities include leasing, marketing and public relations for the company, its office properties and its affiliates, instant office op-erator TOTUS Business Centers, and Conference and Meeting Centers of Long Island.
