All new campers are assigned a camp sister or camp brother who is around the same age. Once you arrive at camp, you and your camp sister or brother will have a chance to spend some time together.

If you have not already, you will soon receive a letter from your camp sister or brother. We ask that you write back as a fun way to connect with another camper before camp starts!

SCOPE EVENT RECAPOn April 20th, our very own Dayna Hardin and Dana Kite co-chaired the annual benefit event for SCOPE Midwest (Summer Camp Opportunities Promote Education) at Briarwood Country Club in Deerfield. Dayna and Dana started SCOPE Midwest in 2007 and this is their 11th year chairing the event. SCOPE has a junior leadership board filled with many of our high school campers and former campers who came together to volunteer for the evening to help raise money for SCOPE.

The event raised over $130,000 to help send low-income, Chicago area public school children to 13 non-for-profit overnight camps throughout the Midwest this summer.

Over 225 guests attended the event that featured live music by Robbie Gold and an awesome silent auction. Allen Schwartz, Former Owner/Director of Banner Day Camp was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to youth and the summer camp profession. Also honored was our very own former Lake of the Woods camper, Sydney Martin with the Youth Advocate award for her work and dedication to Giving Rocks Foundation www.givingrocksfoundation.com. At age 10, Sydney was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric cancer called Langerhan’s Cell Histiocytosis (LCH). Sydney was one of the fortunate ones and was unwilling to be defeated by LCH. After finishing her chemotherapy that year, she started her foundation to raise awareness for LCH and other underfunded pediatric cancers. She is now a Junior at Tulane and has thus far raised over $700,000!

SCOPE camps provide underserved children, mostly from the inner city of Chicago, with safe surroundings, where they can thrive and have opportunities for personal, social, intellectual and creative growth. Scope campers are eligible to reenroll each summer if they are committed to staying in school, this gives them something to look forward and works for all year round. Since 2007, SCOPE Midwest has provided over 2,000 camperships for campers to attend 13 SCOPE partner non-for-profit camps throughout the Midwest.

The following forms must be completed online, including the camp tuition, through your CampInTouch account. These online forms were NOT included in either mailing:

FORMS THAT MUST BE COMPLETED ONLINE THROUGH YOUR CAMPINTOUCH ACCOUNT:

• Camper Profile & Cabin Preference Form – This form was due April 30th. Please fill out ASAP for cabin requests to be considered.

• Parent Consent Form

• Camper Code of Conduct & Camp Policies

• Camper Allergy History - Only required for campers with allergies

• Transportation Form

• Additional Options Form – sign up for horseback riding, private lessons, birthday party, etc.

• Financial Management – camp tuition must be paid online. After you select additional options, you can pay your balance online with eCheck or credit card. Please note there is a 2% transaction fee for all credit card payments. Final balance was due by April 30th.
