Grace and Peace,
This past Sunday we extended a call to Andrew
Shaffer to become our next Minister to Youth
and Their Families. I am excited about Andrew
joining our staff and am confident that his
vision and energy will enhance our youth
ministry for many years to come. Andrew will
begin his work with us on June 15th. I invite
you to pray for him as he prepares to relocate
here and get underway. I also invite you to
extend your thanks to the members of our search team who
have worked extremely hard over the last nine months in
leading our search. Mike Fromm, Tommy Boggs, Graham
Fox, Karen Griggs, Suzanne Hooie, Maddie Lowery, and Josh
McCraven are due an abundant measure of thanks!
While we are excited about Andrew’s arrival, we will certainly
miss Neil Boggan! He has done an outstanding job as our
interim Youth Minister and has contributed many positive
things to the life of our entire congregation. He’s one of us!
Neil will be leaving us at the end of this month to pursue an
opportunity with Teach for America in Memphis, Tennessee. I
urge you to uphold him in your prayers and to give him your
best blessing as prepares to embrace the next chapter in his life.
I reported to you earlier this year that we were investigating the
possibility of moving to a monthly rather than weekly
newsletter. I am pleased to report that beginning in July we
will make that change. The monthly newsletter will be more of
a magazine in format and will feature more stories about our
ministries and people. We will also begin a weekly e-
newsletter that will keep you current on upcoming events. For
those who lack computer access, we plan to make the e-
newsletter available by mail or handout. These moves are part
of an intentional effort to develop a thorough and consistent
communication strategy. As a result, you’ll also see some
changes to our web site in the near future.
Bill Ireland,
Senior Pastor

A Word From Neil
Thank you again to all those who helped
pull off Youth Sunday. It went well; it was
a very nice day.
Let's welcome Andrew Shaffer to FBC
Dalton. Thank you to the search
committee, to those who organized this
past weekend's activities, and to those who
came to the activities. I think that Andrew
brings a lot of good things with him to this
church. Please get to know him as soon as
possible.
Important!
The 5th Grade Orientation to Youth

Our Inside-Out
Monthly Mission Partnership for May:
The FBCD on-campus garden (behind the Kitchen)
and on Foster Road
This week we planted the Soul Food garden on Foster Road! 144 to-
mato plants, 48 pepper plants, as well as many rows of corn, beans, and
squash!
We had 22 folks come out for the planting and will have many more
opportunities to work in the garden this summer and fall! Thank you to
all who helped prepare the soil and plant these seeds, which will nourish
the bodies and souls of our neighbors!
If you're interested in harvesting, pulling weeds, or some other task in
our FBCD gardens, please contact Courtney.
