we continue to develop our capabilities to promote and protect Sysco's reputation, proactively shape our business operating

Management Change: EVP; CFO
In April 2015, Sysco named Joel Grade executive vice president and chief financial officer, effective Sept. 1, 2015, following Chris
Kreidler's decision to leave the company in order to relocate to the northeast and spend more time with his family. Kreidler
remains CFO through Aug. 31, 2015, and works closely with Grade and Sysco's senior executive team to ensure an orderly
transition of his responsibilities. Kreidler also agreed to stay on through the end of December as an advisor to the company.
"Chris was the first senior executive I hired upon becoming CEO in 2009, and we are indebted to him for his many contributions
and tireless efforts on behalf of Sysco," said Bill DeLaney, Sysco's president and chief executive officer. "His strong leadership in
capital markets, long-term planning, mergers and acquisitions, and integration planning for the US Foods merger are areas
where Chris has made a significant and long-term impact on our company. We respect Chris' thoughtful and personal decision
to step down, and wish Chris and his family all the best for their future."
Grade served as Sysco's senior vice president of finance and chief accounting officer since early 2014 with responsibility for field
finance, commercial finance, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and shared services accounting. He began his
career at Sysco as a staff auditor in 1996 and has since held a variety of senior finance and commercial roles. Grade earned an
undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance with a specialization in International Business from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison in 1993 and an MBA in Finance, Strategy and Marketing from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of
Management in 2007.
"As a veteran Sysco leader with nearly 20 years of experience in key finance and commercial roles, Joel is uniquely suited to step
into the CFO position," DeLaney said. "His deep knowledge of our local operations and people, combined with his more recent
service at the corporate level, give him a well-rounded view of how to better serve our customers. We are fortunate to have a
leader like Joel ready to take on this key position and I look forward to working closely with him in his new role as we move
forward."

Management Change: President, SYGMA
www.avention.com CRUSH Report for SYSCO Corporation
In January 2015, Sysco Corporation appointed Greg Keller as the new president of SYGMA, its Ohio-based subsidiary focused on

"With deep experience at SYGMA as well as Sysco, Greg is uniquely qualified to leverage the assets of our total enterprise to
bring chain restaurant customers valuable solutions in supply chain optimization, logistics, strategic sourcing and quality
assurance," Bené said. "Dedicating a leader with Greg's knowledge of the needs of chain restaurant customers and his expertise
in delivering unparalleled products and service to them through the SYGMA network highlights our strong commitment to this
growing customer segment."

Management Change: President Foodservice Operations
In November 2014, Sysco appointed Tom Bené executive vice president and president of foodservice operations. Bené will
succeed Mike Green, who previously announced his intention to retire from Sysco at the end of 2014 after 24 years of
distinguished service.
Bené reports directly to Bill DeLaney, Sysco president and chief executive officer, and have management responsibility for
Sysco's U.S. broadline operations, SYGMA, specialty meat companies, FreshPoint, Guest Supply, European Imports,
international, shared services and revenue management. Pending the close of Sysco's merger with US Foods, all commercial
functions, including contract sales, marketing, merchandising, e-commerce and quality assurance, will also continue to report
to Bené. As previously announced, management of these functions will transition to other executives once the transaction has
closed.

Management Change: SVP, Chief Communications and Government Relations Officer

Horton is responsible for the global communications and government relations strategy and execution in support of the
company's strategic business objectives with key stakeholders groups, both internal and external. Sysco's corporate
communications, government relations, community affairs and corporate giving functions will report to him.
"As Sysco broadens the scope of our business into new markets and new offerings, finding additional ways to effectively reach
and engage with our critical stakeholders becomes even more important," said Russell Libby, Sysco's executive vice president,
corporate affairs and chief legal officer. "Nehl's breadth of experience in both communications and government relations will
help us build, strengthen and execute an integrated strategy across Sysco that will enhance our industry leadership position
and our ability to differentiate ourselves in the marketplace. We are excited to have Nehl join the Sysco team."

Quarterly Earnings Calls
Bill DeLaney, President and CEO – Q4 2015
For the year, we achieved record sales of $49 billion, an increase of 5%. We grew our adjusted operating income and earnings per
share by 3% and 5% respectively. We generated $1 billion in free cash flow. We earned a return on invested capital of 13% on an
adjusted basis. We increased our dividend for the 46th time in our history and distributed nearly $700 million in dividends to our
shareholders.
Following the termination of the US Foods merger agreement, and utilizing the knowledge that we have acquired through our
ongoing customer insights work, we have begun to update our 3-year strategic business plan. Specifically, we see opportunities to
further accelerate our case growth, especially with locally managed customers, through more impactful product and service
differentiation, together with enhanced sales and technology capabilities. We also believe that we can build upon our recent
success in stabilizing gross margin through enhanced product innovation, growing our Sysco brand sales and improving our pricing
analytics and support.
Lastly, as most of you know, this is Chris's last conference call with us. I would like to thank Chris for his numerous contributions to
Sysco over the past six years, and all of us at Sysco would like to wish Chris and his family the very best as they move forward. We
also look forward to welcoming Joel into his new role and working with him as our CFO.
Chris Kreidler, EVP and CFO – Q4 2015
We achieved several of our objectives during the year. We exceeded our final three-year target for annualized business
transformation benefits. Our successful implementation of category management helped to enhance gross profits and mitigate
gross margin pressure. For the year, gross margin was flat compared to 2014 after declining in each of the last four fiscal years. We
continued our prudent management of capital expenditures with net CapEx of $518 million falling well within our guidance range of
$500 million to $550 million.
FD (Fair Disclosure) Wire, 10-Aug-2015 © 2015 Acquire Media Corporation. Published by Avention, Inc. September 2015
Bill DeLaney, President and CEO – Q3 2015
We continued to roll out and successfully execute our category management initiative, and the benefits from this process
contributed to our gross profit dollar growth during the quarter. Through category management we were able to support our
customers' growth by lowering our product cost, and developing innovative product development ideas. This is vital to mitigating
gross margin pressure as we move forward in what remains a fiercely competitive market environment.
Regarding expense management, we establish appropriately aggressive goals for cost-per-case management for FY15, after a very
strong expense management performance in the prior year. We experienced modest improvement in sequential trends in the third
quarter, but will fall short of our original goals in this area for the year.
With that said, our entire leadership team is intently focused on enhancing productivity in a sustainable manner, while delivering
exceptional service to our customers. I expect our performance trends in this area to improve modestly in the fourth quarter and
more so in FY16.
On the acquisition front, we recently completed our previously announced agreement to acquire 50 percent of Pacific Star
Foodservice, a leading foodservice distributor in Mexico. We have developed a strong relationship over the past several years with
the ownership and management team at Pacific Star, and we are very excited about the potential opportunities that this
partnership will provide to profitably grow our business in Mexico.
We announced in April that Joel Grade has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer effective September 1,
2015, following Chris Kreidler's decision to leave the company. Joel is a veteran Sysco leader with nearly 20 years of experience in
key finance and commercial roles.
www.avention.com CRUSH Report for SYSCO Corporation
Chris Kreidler, EVP and CFO – Q3 2015
Capital expenditures for the first 39 weeks of the year, net of proceeds from sales of assets, increased $58 million to $422 million.
About $53 million of this increase is due to IT-related merger integration planning, and the rest was due to timing of investments in
our fleet.
Turning to an update on recent acquisitions, last month we completed the previously announced transaction to buy 50 percent of
Pacific Star Foodservice, a leading foodservice distributor in Mexico. Pacific Star has operated since 1989 with distribution centers
servicing customers in the major metropolitan areas of Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterey, and Tijuana.
It primarily services chain accounts including fast food and casual dining restaurants, casinos, theme parks, movie theaters, and
hotels throughout Mexico. This partnership fits our international expansion strategy, allows us to enhance service to our US
customers who operate in the region, and provides growth opportunities in an important region of the Americas.
FD (Fair Disclosure) Wire, 4-May-2015 © 2015 Acquire Media Corporation. Published by Avention, Inc. May 2015
Bill DeLaney, President and CEO – Q2 2015
Turning to an update on our technology initiatives, we continue our merger integration planning with regards to technology, and
have begun certain fundamental projects necessary for integration. As we move forward in deploying our ERP platform, our
approaches continue to evolve.
For instance, we have focused on broad implementations at the operating companies for several years; we have a plan to convert
the hub for our shared business services facility last. However, we have found that this created inefficiencies at SBS that would make
further rollouts challenging. Thus, we are now moving forward with the rollout of SAP financial modules for general ledger, accounts
payable and accounts receivable, as well as additional elements of the HR module, all of which are intended to make SBS function
more effectively in the near term, and make future ERP conversions at the operating companies relatively easier.
I'm extremely proud of the efforts and accomplishments of our leadership team over the last several months. As we announced last
August, Mike Green retired from Sysco at the end of the calendar year, after 24 years of distinguished service. On January 1, Tom
Bene became Executive Vice President and President of Foodservice Operations, succeeding Mike. Tom reports to me, and has
responsibility for all business operations, sales, merchandising, marketing, and revenue management.
In addition, and also effective Jan. 1, 2015, Scott Charlton, Senior Vice President of Distribution Services, now reports to me in an
expanded role. Scott leads end-to-end supply chain operations, including warehousing, inbound and outbound transportation, and
replenishment. Scott joined Sysco in 2013 as well, and brings great energy and expertise to our senior leadership team.
Turning to an update on our proposed merger with US Foods: Over the past 12 months, we have worked in good faith with the FTC,
providing millions of pages of documents, and explaining to them our industry and the merits of our proposed merger. We strongly
believe that the combination of Sysco and US Foods will promote competition in what is already a highly competitive industry by
positioning us to provide significant value to our customers, including lower cost.
Chris Kreidler, EVP and CFO – Q2 2015
Capital expenditures, net of proceeds from sales of assets, totaled $296 million for the first half of the fiscal year, compared to $247
million last year. Roughly half of the $49-million year-over-year increase is due to the timing of investment in our fleet, with the
remainder coming from IT projects that are related to integration planning.
FD (Fair Disclosure) Wire, 2-Feb-2015 © 2015 Acquire Media Corporation. Published by Avention, Inc. April 2015
Bill DeLaney, President and CEO – Q1 2015
Turning to an update on our technology initiatives, during the quarter, we successfully executed a major software upgrade for the 12
operating companies using SAP. In addition, while we'll talk more about the proposed merger in a moment, we continue our merger
integration planning and sequencing work with regards to technology. We expect initial post-merger areas of focus will include the
rollout of SAP financial modules for general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, as well as additional elements of the
HR module, all of which will make future SAP conversions at the operating companies relatively easier.
While we are pleased with our accomplishments during the quarter, we did fall short of our expense-management goals. Expense
increases were broad based and were primarily driven by increases in sales, delivery, and incentive accruals. On the sales side,
we've begun to hire MAs in targeted markets and expect these investments to contribute to sales growth over time. In the delivery
area, driver turnover and shortages continue to drive higher wages and overtime expense; however, our single largest opportunity
for improvement lies in more consistent execution across the organization.
www.avention.com CRUSH Report for SYSCO Corporation
We are developing and implementing tools that will provide increased visibility to key performance metrics, as well as improved
best-business practices. We believe these enhancements, combined with our new functional structure, will lead to improved
customer service, greater operational efficiency, enhanced cost management, and increased profitability. As we noted on last
quarter's earnings call, we also are investing in some promising new sales programs and market-driven initiatives.

Strategy
Sysco is focused on optimizing its core broadline business in the U.S., Bahamas, Canada, Costa Rica, Ireland and Mexico, while
continuing to explore appropriate opportunities to profitably grow its market share and create shareholder value by expanding
beyond their core business. Day-to-day, Sysco's business decisions are driven by its mission to market and deliver great products to
its customers with exceptional service, with the aspirational vision of becoming each of their customers’ most valued and trusted
business partner. They have identified five components of their strategy to help them achieve their mission and vision as follows:
Profoundly enrich the experience of doing business with Sysco: Their primary focus is to help their customers succeed. They
believe that by building on their current competitive advantages, they will be able to further differentiate their offering to
customers. Their competitive advantages include their sales force of over 7,300 marketing associates; their diversified product
base, which includes quality-assured Sysco brand products; the suite of services they provide to their customers such as
business reviews and menu analysis; and their multi-regional presence in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, they have a
portfolio of businesses spanning broadline, chain restaurant distribution, specialty produce, specialty meat, hotel amenities,
specialty import and export which serves their customers’ needs across a wide array of business segments. Through their
Sysco Ventures platform, they are developing a suite of technology solutions that help support the administrative needs of
their customers. They believe this strategy of enriching the experience of doing business with Sysco will increase customer
retention and profitably accelerate sales growth with both existing and new customers.
Continuously improve productivity in all areas of their business: They continually strive to improve productivity and reduce
costs. From implementing an integrated software system to leveraging the power of their end-to-end supply chain, they
continue to look for ways to improve their service to their customers and lower costs.
Expand their portfolio of products and services by initiating a customer-centric innovation program: They continually explore
opportunities to provide new and improved products, technologies and services to their customers.
Explore, assess and pursue new businesses and markets: This strategy is focused on identifying opportunities to expand the
core business through growth in new international markets and in adjacent areas that complement their core foodservice
distribution business. As a part of their ongoing strategic analysis, they regularly evaluate business opportunities, including
potential acquisitions, joint ventures and sales of assets and businesses.
Develop and effectively integrate a comprehensive, enterprise-wide talent management process: Their ability to drive results
and grow their business is directly linked to having the best talent in the industry. They are committed to the continued
enhancement of their talent management programs in terms of how they recruit, select, train and develop their associates
throughout Sysco, as well as succession planning. Their ultimate objective is to provide their associates with outstanding
opportunities for professional growth and career development.
In fiscal 2016 , to further their strategy, they see opportunities to further accelerate case growth, especially with their locally-
managed sales customers through improved product and service differentiation combined with enhanced sales and technology
capabilities. They will continue to build on their success in stabilizing gross margin through enhanced product innovation, growing
privately-branded product sales and improving pricing analytics and support. There continues to be opportunity to improve their
productivity and reduce overhead costs in their supply chain organization and administrative areas of their business. They will
continue to invest in their business to fully realize the benefits and improve their return on invested capital.
Business & IT Expenditures
www.avention.com CRUSH Report for SYSCO Corporation
Sysco's capital expenditures for fiscal 2015, 2014 and 2013, approximately $542.8 million, $523.2 million and $511.9 million,
respectively, were invested in technology, facilities, delivery fleet and other capital asset enhancements.
They estimate their capital expenditures in fiscal 2016 should be in the range of $550 million to $600 million.
During the three years ended June 27, 2015, capital expenditures were financed primarily by internally generated funds, their
commercial paper program and bank and other borrowings. They expect to finance their fiscal 2016 capital expenditures from the
same sources.

Ai2 POET Food Distribution Software
In March 2015, Sysco deployed Ai2’s POET food distribution software for its Asian Foods Division. It was deployed for use by
Sysco’s sales reps to handle their mobile order management.
Food distribution software has been a specialty of Ai2 for close to 30 years with hundreds of food distributors having automated
with Ai2’s food distribution software. Food distribution is a unique industry in many ways and food distribution software has to
be robust enough to meet its needs. Inventory management and tracking is critical. Broken Case Unit Conversions, Catch
Weight Pricing, Flexible Contract Pricing, Par Levels, Margin Management, Menu Planning, Rebates, Substitute Items,
Promotions, Credits, Quotations, Surveys and Real Time Pricing are just some of the requirements that make the food industry
unique.
Ai2’s POET food distribution software for sales rep order management was specifically designed to meet these requirements
and to help distributors meet the challenges of today’s economic environment by automating the remote ordering process.
With this powerful food distribution software, food distributors can manage enterprise resources, orders, supply chain, and
customer relationships more efficiently and effectively.

Bluewolf CRM Application for Salesforce
Sysco came to Bluewolf wanting to develop a Salesforce-based CRM system for their 8,000 salespeople who call on delis and

restaurants and hotels every day. They'd already tried a pilot that hadn't done very well.
Bluewolf created a sales visit app that runs on Android and iPhone. It's location aware, so when the sales rep walks into a
customer business the name of the store manager is already on the phone screen. It uses speech recognition so that the sales
rep can order samples straight away for the customer, without trying to hunt and peck at the keyboard to fill in the details. The
information goes right into the CRM database.
What the Bluewolf CRM app does for Sysco is just business common sense, and so is the idea of getting out in the field to find
out what the sales rep really needs and building something that's easy to use. That's what consumer services and gadgets are
all about, but it's still something too many businesses and IT departments need to learn. (Article dated April 2013.)

SAP ERP; SAP Invoice Management; SAP Archiving; SAP Document Access
Sysco undertook a major business transformation a few years ago. The company needed a way to transition from paper-based
processes and get information where it needed to be in a faster and more proficient manner. “The goals of this business
transformation were to reduce cost, become more streamlined, and serve our customers more efficiently,” said Ernie Dries,
Senior Director of Enterprise Information Management at Sysco.
As Sysco moved to a centralized, shared-services business process environment — using SAP ERP as its central IT platform —
the business, along with its partners Deloitte and Alitek, developed an enterprise content management strategy that would
reduce the organization’s reliance on paper forms, but still provide the content required to support transactional activity.
Sysco’s EIM team integrated a number of solution extensions for SAP software by OpenText into its IT landscape. Sysco
employees use SAP Invoice Management by OpenText to scan and digitize invoices. All of the digitized invoices are stored in the
SAP Archiving application by OpenText, which integrates business documents with SAP transactions and workflows along with
the SAP Document Access application by OpenText.
Certainly a major business transformation provides many lessons, but the biggest one Sysco discovered, according to Dries, is
to ensure that every step in the project is business-driven and has a direct return. (Case Study Dated January 2013.)

The SAP Mobility Design Center designed and built an application for Sysco using the SAP mobile platform. The app enables
customers to manage inventory from Sysco and place orders, either manually or by setting replenishment metrics to re-order
automatically. The app also allows a Sysco customer to track its own inventory not purchased from Sysco. This is both an
added service for the customer and gives Sysco an expanded view into the items its customers need, and thus items it may
want to offer in the future.
“As we are looking to grow our business, we are strongly focused on saving our customers time and making the business
relationship as easy and collaborative as possible,” said Twila Day, former CIO, Sysco. “Experts from the SAP Mobility Design
Center supported us in designing, building and testing the mobile app, fulfilling our special requirements of having it run in
unwired locations. This helps us in strengthening our customers’ satisfaction and loyalty, and makes it easier for our customers
to engage and work with us.” (Article Dated September 2012.)

Vocollect Voice
Sysco Guest Supply’s key strategic challenge is dealing with extreme peak volumes the first week of every month and during
summer holidays. A highly fluctuating order velocity and the need for correct orders, coupled with the need to manage
inventory just-in-time, precipitated the need to explore new technology.
To meet the need of just-in-time deliveries, the company’s distribution leadership settled on voice. Technology partner Vitech
www.avention.com CRUSH Report for SYSCO Corporation
Business Group recommended Vocollect and, after a short pilot, Vocollect Voice was implemented across 10 DCs in just nine
months. approximately 130 workers across the 10 DCs use Vocollect Voice in eight workflows – order selection, house truck-
picking, parcel zone-picking, item demand/replenishment, putaway, countcheck (precursor to cycle-counting), and item
consolidation – to move more than 10 million cases per year.
Sysco Guest Supply obtained strong results from its deployment of Vocollect Voice across the 10 United States distribution
centers. These results included boosting throughput performance by 28 percent and putaway by 26-28 percent. (Article Dated

XATANET; DriveCam
Sysco was faced with a major challenge, the need to deploy multiple fleet technology systems, consisting of seven unique
scopes of work, over a period of approximately 2 years. In addition to XATANET in-cab communication systems and DriveCam
driver performance systems, several of the projects had mandatory deadlines in order to comply with an enterprise wide SAP
implementation.
Sysco turned to Velociti. Velociti’s project plan was based on a complex, yet flexible schedule which combined scopes of work
whenever possible, limiting the disruption to Sysco’s business. By deploying installation crews consisting of between 1 and 8
technicians at each location, equipment could be taken out of service for a limited amount of time with multiple tasks being
completed at once. Velociti provided up to 40 full-time technicians at certain points of the project, in addition to 2 full-time
project managers.
Sysco was able to meet all of the project deadlines and realize improved ROI as a result of Velociti’s deployment strategy.
“Velociti listened to what we needed, developed a plan, took ownership of the deployment and quite honestly, we couldn’t
have met the challenges of these projects without them”, stated David Cullom, Sysco’s then Director of Fleet Services. (Case

iTradeNetwork Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) Data Pool Service
In June 2012, Sysco Corporation selected iTradeNetwork (ITN) to be its Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN) Data Pool
Service provider. This decision by Sysco reaffirms both companies' commitment to the GS1 Foodservice initiative and GDSN as
an industry standard.
Robert Howell, Sysco Vice President of Supply Chain, said "We are excited to take this next important step to enable efficient
and effective synchronization of product data through use of the Global Data Synchronization Network. ITN is committed to
using standards and working with the food industry to provide value to its customers. We are confident that ITN's collaborative
platform, combined with the GDSN, are right for Sysco and will allow us to achieve the objective of complete, accurate and
synchronized product information in the foodservice supply chain."

CSC RISKMASTER Business Analytics
Sysco adopted RISKMASTER in 1998 to replace an old and inflexible system that struggled to handle data feeds from multiple
sources, including insurance companies and third-party administrators. Moving to a modern risk and claims management
system not only centralized claims data and streamlined processes, it positioned Sysco to focus on a key objective: improving
information sharing internally and with trusted partners.
The company uses third-party administrators for its casualty claims, which encompass workers’ compensation and auto,
product and general liability. To facilitate this progress, Sysco upgraded to the Web browser-based version of the software. In
2011, Sysco upgraded to the most current version of RISKMASTER Business Analytics to fine-tune its reporting capabilities.
“It’s important to us that our claims data be autonomous, and that’s what we like about RISKMASTER and CSC,” said Pam
Floyd, then Senior Staff Accountant for Risk Management at Sysco. “There are companies out there with a similar kind of
program, but they require that they host your data. We want to host our own data and produce our own reports for our various
departments.” (Case Study Dated April 2012.)

mUrgent Email Marketing Services
In June 2010 mUrgent and Sysco iCare signed an agreement for mUrgent to be the nationwide provider of email marketing for
the Sysco iCare program. The program is a special line of resources for busy business owners to satisfy their needs to fulfill their
business objectives. “We are very excited to have mUrgent join the Sysco iCare program. The marketing services they provide
make them a key member of our portfolio and will be instrumental in continuing to offer our customers best in class value
added resources,” said Samantha Hughes, Director of Business Development for Sysco iCare.
mUrgent’s full-service email marketing being a part of the iCare team gives Sysco customers one of the best marketing tools for
their business. As the front runner in email marketing, mUrgent knows what is required to create a successful email campaign.
With tracking and reporting of all campaigns, business owners can see their marketing dollars go to work in real time.

SAP Business Suite Business Intelligence, SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence, SAP CRM Application
In May 2010 Sysco selected SAP Business Suite and SAP BusinessObjects business intelligence as the IT foundation for a
business transformation project slated for initial rollout in 2011 and staged deployment through 2013. “We’re starting to pilot
some of the customer-facing applications, and in particular, an improved ordering platform for our customers,” said Mark
Palmer, former vice president of corporate communication, Sysco, in an interview. “So far, we’re very happy with what we’re
seeing.” Sysco aims to unify business processes across its operating companies and 186 distribution centers while addressing
specific business needs in the wholesale foodservice industry. By doing so, the company intends to boost efficiency, improve
sales and marketing execution, and increase transparency through better data management.
"This is more than an IT project -- it is truly a business transformation," said Jim Hope, former executive vice president,
Business Transformation, Sysco, in a press release. "Using the power of SAP as the foundation for our transformation, Sysco
intends to improve productivity, retain and expand business with existing customers, and understand where market
opportunities lie so we can do a better job attracting and pursuing new business."
In a December 2009 Sysco investor presentation, Sysco’s Hope described the various facets of the projected changes, including
an enhanced customer experience, segmented customer service models, a rich-functionality Web interface, a consolidated
back office for shared services, and improved data management. Highlights include:
Customer Interactions: Customer contact teams will be created to maximize sales opportunities and the customer experience
for existing customers, drawing upon customer information, including sales transactions, preferences and order history, from
the SAP CRM application. Marketing associates, currently the primary point of customer interaction, will be able to shift their
focus to new business opportunities.
Customer Orders: An improved Web site will provide customers with a complete order management system while bolstering
sales capabilities with personalized recommendations and detailed information about nutrition, similar products, recipes and
videos.

Allstream Videoconferencing Systems
With over 4,500 employees in 26 locations across Canada, Sysco Canada needed to minimize the costs of travel and training.
Sysco Canada relies on Allstream's videoconferencing systems to engage its dispersed employees in product demonstrations,

training, associate updates and annual budget meetings. The outcome of this was that it vastly reduced the costs and
productivity losses associated with extensive travel, it allowed the staff to view live training sessions and download over 250
recordings anywhere, and it avoided over $500,000 in travel and payroll expenses by conducting two major training programs
via videoconferencing. Craig Simpson, Sysco Canada's former vice president and CIO said, "Beyond the cost savings and
productivity boost, we have access to the insight of different people throughout our organization and you can't put a price on
that." (Case study dated September 2009.)

CDW Berbee Services: IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, IBM 3583 Tape Library, IBM DS4000 Disk Subsystem
Sysco Food Services of Baraboo needed a better data backup and recovery management. Sysco hosts a 24/7 operation on 12
servers and over 200 desktops, and was backing up 2.5 terabytes of data a night to a 3583 IBM tape library with three LTL-1
drives. CDW Berbee, an IBM business partner, used the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager to successfully implement a backup solution
for Sysco Baraboo that provided both cost efficiencies and management simplicity. The design allowed for the two Sysco
locations to backup to each other, and then electronically vault to the opposite location. "I was pushing as hard as I could to
find a tapeless solution," said Terry Fedkenheuer, then information systems director at Sysco. "Even though I understand the
new technology of tape is light years ahead of what it used to be, it's still tape, and it always was my concern that one would be
written and we couldn't read it back, or one would be destroyed, or who knows what." The solution includes an IBM DS4000
disk subsystem. (Case study dated May 2008.)

Xata's Fleet Operations Software Xatanet
Xata Corp. will provide onboard computer technology for Sysco Corp. Xata will implement its fleet operations software Xatanet
for Sysco beginning in the first quarter of 2008. Sysco's private fleet consists of over 9,000 vehicles at 177 locations in the U.S.
and Canada. "Ultimately, this is about improving safety and efficiency. The tools provided by Xatanet should be invaluable
towards increasing fleet safety, fuel efficiency, and customer service," said Gary Cullen, former VP of distribution systems at
Sysco. (Dated January 2008.)

Roadnet Technologies Roadnet
SYSCO Baltimore, after thorough investigation, became an early innovator of routing and scheduling software by licensing
Roadnet from Roadnet Technologies (formerly Roadnet Systems). They purchased the software to gain control over increasing
distribution costs. They needed to reduce these costs while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Roadnet is a tactical daily routing tool that optimizes delivery routes, balances profitability and enhances customer service.
One of Roadnet Technologies first customers, SYSCO Baltimore's first year experience with Roadnet exceeded their
expectations. Roadnet Technologies and SYSCO worked together to add complementary features to the software, laying the
foundation to the current robust system. Using Roadnet to efficiently plan their routes, they run 110 daily standard routes to
foodservice operations including restaurants, country clubs, healthcare and educational institutions, and lodging
establishments.
SYSCO Baltimore is able to attribute a variety of benefits to Roadnet, including:
Reduces customer account maintenance
Consistently meets time windows
Minimizes driver overtime
Significantly reduces routing time and mileage

Syracuse IT Infrastructure, Sun Solaris, IBM AS/400, Oracle Database, UNIX Servers, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, Microsoft
Outlook, Exchange Server
According to this April 2002 case study, Sysco has invested heavily on developing its IT infrastructure. The IT personnel and
setup at Sysco's Syracuse location consist of four operators who maintain the mainframe computers, two field system
administrators overseeing the IT needs of 120-130 employees' with laptops and 400-500 customers, currently using DOS based
customer catalogs. The hardware and software used at Sysco Syracuse include, Sun Solaris network connected to Intranet,
laptops and cell phones for company field representatives, UNIX Servers that handle e-mail and AS/400 mainframes that have
an Oracle database of Syracuse local customers. They also have a Disaster Recovery System in place consisting of the Multiple
Access Connections (MAC) and the UNIX Servers in a 'Safe Vault', which have redundant links with the actual servers. Also they
utilize Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks (RAID) technology for maintaining the database in case of disk failures. The sales
personnel connect to the Sysco Syracuse network via a Remote Access Service (RAS) connection and transmit their sales orders
at real-time. Sysco Syracuse currently uses Oracle databases to store the orders received from customers, maintain inventory
and employee databases, but has decided to change to Microsoft SQL 2000 system under the corporate directive. As part of this
transition corporate HQ has decided to change its UNIX e-mail client to Microsoft Outlook. The infrastructure also includes
Microsoft Exchange Server.

ClearCube PCs
Sysco knew that it needed a better setup in its warehouse than the terminal devices it was using. "Our warehouse employees
could not access any PC programs, including email," says Dan Pentland, vice president of information services, Sysco. The
company installed ClearCube PCs in its operations area, which encompasses its warehouse and transportation. ClearCube's
innovative Blade PCs deliver highly managed, Intel-based PC functionality by removing the PC from the user's desktop and
placing it in a centralized environment. Users keep their desktop peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse, printers, etc.) and
enjoy the high performance level of a standard PC, while the PC itself resides in a secure datacenter. Increased security over
technology and data assets played a large role in Sysco's choice of the ClearCube architecture. "The ClearCube PCs can't be
accidentally knocked over or dropped like a regular PC tower/desktop unit could," says Pentland. "There is also a less likely
chance that the equipment will be stolen." (Case study undated.)

plans to move in and open with a skeleton crew of about 50 folks at the end of this year but they hope to employ between 1,500 to
1,800 more, including those transferring from other Sysco locations and new hires from the local community, in the future.

IT Executives
Wayne Shurts - EVP and CTO
In October 2012, Wayne Shyrts joined Sysco as executive vice president and CTO, both the company's CIO and the
head of business transformation will report to him. “That’s what makes it really exciting,” he tells CIO Journal. Shurts
says his first order of business will be to improve the company’s use of data as means of winning market share. He says
he’ll try to develop a business process for “how we start thinking about using the data and knowing the customer
better than anyone else.”
Shurts believes his diverse background, which includes IT and business roles at both retail and consumer packaged goods
companies, made him an attractive candidate for Sysco senior management. “That’s a lot of what they were looking for; not just
somebody to be the pure IT guy, but someone who can focus on the business.”
Sysco is currently undergoing a consolidation of various back office systems, which Shurts says will continue under the leadership of
its current CIO. “We might need to accelerate that,” he said.
Ultimately, Shurts is looking to change the way business relates to IT, but realizes the way to accomplish that is to change the way IT
interacts with business. He hopes his new role will help him do just that.
