• Centre for Quantitate Economics: The centre supports researchers with advanced level training within the analytical and quantitative disciplines of economics, econometrics, finance and accounting. This centre facilitates advanced level data analysis and statistical software training like SPSS, R and SAS Training for the students and researchers to enhance their analytical capability.
• The Writing Centre: This centre offers numerous facilities to students about any writing difficulty, from questions about grammar to matters of style, including difficulties like shaping papers, writing essays and reports of various types, presenting scientifically researched information and others.

NEW URBANISMS IN INDIA:
URBAN LIVING, SUSTAINABILITY AND EVERYDAY LIFE

Project aims: i) Investigate the everyday lives of families living within
new urban environments in India, researching their
interactions, issues and experiences
ii) Develop innovative tools for conducting community
based research in rapidly-developing urban
environments iii) Develop academic and practitioner understanding of
how models of urban design are being transferred
between contexts and communities

• Geet Chawla (B.Sc 2012-15) at the 11th South Asian Economics Students Meet held in December 2014 at Bhutan. 'FDI and Technological Transfers within South Asia'.
• SSE students left their footprint at the IIM-A – participating in the Amaethon 2015, the Annual International Food and Agribusiness Summit of IIM Ahmedabad. The students also participated in workshops on rural marketing and data analytics.

India University Squash Championship 2014 held at Mumbai in January.
• Akash Kothari (B.Sc 2013-16) represented SIU men's football team at the
All India West Zone football tournament at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. He
represented Deccan Rovers at the All India Club Football Tournament at
Lucknow and won the 3rd place, and also at the All India Football
Tournament at Gadinglanj, Kolhapur.
• Kalyani Saxena (B.Sc 2014-17) had gained Second Position in IIM
Ahmedabad International Summit's Photography Competition.
• SSE Boys team won the SIU Football Tournament 2014-15 under the
able captaincy of Sauvanik Das and able mentoring of our faculty KK

Student Activity
• Many students work closely with the Global Shapers Community which
creates a platform for creating and nurturing future leaders.
• It is one of several multi-stakeholder communities at the World Economic
Forum.
• It is a network of Hubs developed and led by young people who are
exceptional in their potential, their achievement and their drive to make a
contribution to their communities.
• The program is based on Andragogy-a revolutionary adult learning system,
which is self- directed, problem centered and active involvement focused.
• The program goes beyond mere employability, and creates measurable
transformations in the areas of leadership, communication, confidence,
public speaking and professionalism.
• The student’s participation in such programme sensitizes them towards global
issues and develops them into better future citizens of the world.
• The Kashmir Relief Drive was a spontaneous initiative that came from a group
of enthusiastic students, spearheaded by Mr.Karan Mehra of TY. Parallell Ms.
Pulkita Vaish –Samarpan Culb Head, tied up with the NGO- Goonj and SICSR
to collect donated items for Jammu and Kashmir Flood victims. It had more
than 100 students participating to express their solidarity
• The fourth edition of Laissez Faire (the annual inter-collegiate fest) was
organised in January 2015

• Mr. Rathin Roy delivered an insightful speech on the occasion of the Common Induction Programme of SSE and SICSR - 'India’s Macro-Fiscal Bind: Can Co-operative Federalism be the answer?'
• On 10th August 2014 Dr. Somesh Mathur give a lecture on the topic of New Theories in International Trade.
• A Joint FDP was organized CUTS and SSE in August 2014 “Law and Economics of Competition”
• Dr. Kuldeep Mathur conducted a workshop on “From Government to Governance: a public policy perspective”. Prof Mathur is a noted academician and has been a member of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration
• A Symposium was conducted in September 2014 on 'Education: A Post MDG Perspective' wherein Ms Sheetal Bapat, founder of Shyamchi Aai Foundation and Mr Chinmaya U Holla, Research Associate.
• The First Prof. Suresh Tendulkar Memorial Lecture was organized by SSE
on 8th December, 2014 wherein Dr. Subir Vithal Gokarn, Director of Research
at Brookings India and ex Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India, delivered a
lecture on “Poverty Alleviation Strategies: Top-Down and Bottom-Up
Perspectives”
• 'Regional Consultation on Development Cooperation' program were organised
in collaboration with Research and Information System for Developing

Our very own Mr. Satish Balkawade, has completed his graduation in Sociology from ‘Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University’ and earned himself a B.A.(Sociology). His commitment towards education is commendable.
Mr. Milind Sharma, an alumnus of SSE, has displayed spectacular entrepreneurial skills by setting up a highly successful Mobile centric hyperlocal grocery delivery service PepperTap. PepperTap has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Sequoia Capital. Such a demonstration of entrepreneurial skills has instilled a feeling of pride in SSE.
