Wildlife Spotted atSylvan HeightsEastern Cottontail rabbits are 15 to18 inches long and weigh betweentwo and three pounds They canrange in color from a light brown todark gray

Cottontail rabbits eat a variety of plant materials In the winter the cottontail(which does not hibernate) forages over the surface of the snow cover andconsumes largely woody plant parts including the twigs bark and buds of oakdogwood sumac maple and birch

Christmas Tree Disposal - Support yourTroopThe Beaverton Boy Scouts Troop 618 ask that you bring your Christmas tree(and a donation) to St Andrew Lutheran Church so they can dispose of it safelyand economically The troop can recycle both wreaths and trees with asuggested donation of $5 for wreaths and $10 for trees

Winter Weather PreparationICYMI Reminder that now is the time to locate your water shut-off If yourpipes freeze or break you can stop water flow FAST if you know where it is

Clear stored items away from it for easy accessWrap the pipes you can access with newspaper which make a goodtemporary insulatorLeave your heat on to at least 50 degrees

When there is a freeze remember the following DO use hair dryers heatlamps or heaters to thaw lines ndash slow and safe DO NOT use open flames tothaw lines If you are going away for the holiday have your unit checked on aregular basis while you are away This may mean every day or two in severecold weather

Jacquis CornerThe strength of a community is built on volunteers Thank you to all thevolunteers who came to stuff envelopes for our budget and annualmeeting mailings Come by the office if you are interested in volunteeringBylaws revisions are almost complete We will be requesting approval atthe Annual MeetingAfter several months of planning budgeting and shopping a work truckwas purchased for Sylvan Heights HOA This will aid our maintenanceand landscape team with hauling moving supplies and purchasingmaterials as they continue to work on community projects

NW Gutters has completed the repair and cleaning of our guttersWe are obtaining bids to replace our fob system which will provide addedsafety and security for our residents Stay tuned for updatesWe are also obtaining bids for outdoor striping to ensure parking spotsand no parking areas are clearly marked Thank you for parking indesignated spaces and not along the curbs meant for fire and emergencyservices onlyJon and Mike have turned his attention to taking care of ldquofix-itrdquo items likereplacing bulbs inspecting crawl spaces and fixing railings When Jon




started working for Sylvan Heights last May there were more than 100repair items on the list We are now down to less than 20 Mike has continued to cut back the ivy along paths and stairs and shearthe top Top-shearing is important as ivy had grown so tall in many placesthat electric junction boxes were inaccessible Now we canrepair landscape lighting Be sure and give Jon and Mike your thankswhen you see them
