Sydney GatewayBusiness Update

Autumn 2020

Sydney Gateway will provide a new toll-free connection from the Sydney motorway network at St Peters Interchange to Sydney Airport and beyond.

We are bringing you this update from our homes as we join you in following the direction of authorities to keep the community safe. We appreciate it is a difcult time and acknowledge the challenges being faced by businesses.

Currently infrastructure construction projects are considered essential to the economy and will continue as planned across the city and the state.

The safety and wellbeing of our workforce and the wider community is our highest priority. Our people are following hygiene and appropriate social distancing measures and will continue to do so.

Your feedback Thank you to everyone who made a submission on the combined Sydney Gateway Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and preliminary draft Major Development Plan (draft MDP). We received 92 submissions on the NSW planning process, and 93 submissions on the Commonwealth planning process. As part of the NSW process we have prepared a Submissions Report.

As part of the Commonwealth process, Sydney Airport will give due regard to submissions received and submit these along with the draft MDP to the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development for consideration.

Next steps The NSW and Commonwealth planning approval decisions are expected in mid-2020. Once the project is approved, a contract will be awarded to build Sydney Gateway.

Three construction bidders are on the shortlist for the contract. We are working closely with each bidder to share knowledge, drive innovation and fnd opportunities to deliver positive outcomes for businesses and the community. The proposals put forward by each bidder are currently being evaluated to select a contractor.

Once the contractor is appointed it will develop detailed management plans to minimise construction impacts to local businesses and the community. This will include plans to efectively manage noise and vibration, air quality, trafc and access. We will work with our contractor to provide regular updates to businesses and the community about planned activities.

At this stage we will also be able to provide more information on how construction will be staged, timings of key activities, details of trafc changes and how impacts will be managed.

If you need help understanding this information, please contact the Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450 and ask them to call us on 1800 654 446.

Site investigations To prepare for the start of construction, we will be doing investigations in the project area to record the locations of utilities like powerlines and cables. This will give us important information to help build Sydney Gateway. You can check our online maps to see if there are any site investigations planned near you: nswroads.work/sydneygatewayportal
