Note for 4-pole telephone sockets: Connect themicrofi lter using an adapter (available from any Swisscom shop). Do not plug telephones or fax ma-chines into the second connection of the adapter.

1 Do not begin the installation of the newmodem until after the connection date. You have been notifi ed of this by letter.
2 If you > Already possessed a fast Internet connec-
tion (ADSL, DSL or similar), proceed with Step 3.
> Did not previously possess a fast Internet connection, go directly to Step 4.
3 Remove> The old modem> The old power supply unit (if present)> The old modem cable (violet)> And all old microfi lters
You can return the old units to any Swisscom shop.
4 Switch your computer off .
5 Unplug all telephones.
6 Choose the telephone socket to which you wish to connect your modem.
Observe the following points: If you
> Wish to use Bluewin TV, position themodem by the telephone socket closest to your television.
> Do not wish to use Bluewin TV, position the modem by the telephone socket clos-est to your computer.
7 Connect the units and cables supplied as shown in the illustration on the right.

10 Check whether your telephone is work-ing. Can you hear a dialling tone?

11 If you > Are a new Swisscom DSL customer
you still need to enable your Inter-net connection (registration). Follow Section «3. Registering DSL by Swiss-com» on the back of this manual.
> Are an existing Swisscom DSLcustomer (DSL customer or Bluewin TV customer), you can now> use the Internet> install Bluewin TV or > set up WLAN in accordance with
the attached manual «Setup WLAN».

For new Swisscom DSL customers only: 3. Registering DSL by Swisscom1 Start your browser (Internet Explorer , Firefox , Safari , etc.).
2 The DSL registration page appears automatically in your browser. You will be guid-ed through the registration process step by step. Complete all compulsory fi elds.
If a progress bar is displayed, wait until this process has fi nished and then continue with registration.
Note: If neither the registration page nor a progress bar is displayed, access the registra-tion page by entering «www.swisscom.ch» in the address fi eld of your browser and press-ing the Enter key .
Then continue with the registration.
Troubleshooting> Is the «Power» lamp lit on the modem?
No > Check whether your modem is switched on (Step 8). No > Check the power supply unit and mains connection (Step 7).
> Is the «DSL» lamp lit on the modem?
No > The DSL line is faulty or not yet connected.> Check the cabling between the modem and telephone socket (violet cable).> Check the connection date for the DSL connection in one of the letters you have
received from Swisscom.
> Is at least one «Ethernet» lamp lit on the modem?
No > Check whether your computer is switched on (Step 8). No > Check whether your computer is correctly connected to the modem (Step 7).
> Have you used a white microfi lter (with Swisscom logo) for every telephone in your home?
No > Use a white microfi lter (with Swisscom logo) for every telephone.
> Are you using the modem cable (violet) supplied? No > Use the cable supplied.
> Is your Internet access now working? No > Contact us on the freephone number 0800 800 800.
Note: If you run into problems during set-up that you cannot resolve even using these instructions, please contact the freephone number 0800 800 800.
3 At the end of the registration process, print out the datasheet and enter your Swisscom login data here:
Username: __________________________ Password: ___________________________
4 After registration, you can set up a wireless Internet connection (WLAN) on your com-puter. To do this, follow the instructions on the screen or the attached manual «Setup WLAN».
